Saw the Ipad Pro today and it is stupidly large
The thing is none of the app icons look any bigger and they are spaced out in the same fashion as the smaller versions so there looks like there is loads of empty space on the screen which doesn't help

Anyone got BT Broadband, typically one of the fibre options.
Is it any good.
Considering a switch from the cappy Talk Talk and fibre is only £13 a month more than I pay now.
Wondering if BT was reliable and are their speed estimates close to what you actually get?

Couldn't think of anything RC related to buy so I bought a 5K Imac instead
Should get it tomorrow, just need to rearrange some furniture to accomodate it and repaint a wall or two that was hidden by some furniture.

But really, for most, looks aren't important, definitely not for me anyway, I choose function over being pretty anytime lol, so looks aside then, for those who don't find it important.
The reason I ask is because I'm upgrading my PC soon, I want something with more power now I have fibre optic, and was wondering about a second hand Mac of some description.
Typically I'm not an Apple fan, but so many people own them, and I wondered what the secret was, if you take away looks for those who aren't too bothered by that.
In terms of actual computing power only.

in reply to Oho
i made the jump 5 years ago from the windose/linux camp to mac and OS X. what i have found is...
longevity. my macbook pro is 5 years old now and still as quick as the day i got it. i haven't had to upgrade anything or reinstall OS X as it doesn't seem to get bogged down like a windows machine.
i will say its hard to make the jump in the first place but once you do its hard to look back and think i made mistake. Yes the initial outlay seems a lot but you get a lot for your money. its not only the hardware you need to bear in mind in the total cost of ownership.
think about the software you use. once you add in a bunch of applications you have purchased and compare those to what is shipped with OS X out of the box the prices seem a lot more reasonable.
Im planning on replacing my macbook next year around christmas so will be over 6 years old by then. Most windows people i know replace there machines at least once every 3 years due to the fact they are slow and not supportable anymore....
so the moral of the story is you get more for your money with a mac than with a windows pc.

That's quite unusual, my current machine was overhauled in 2003 and still runs as good now as it does then, simply by keeping it clean and stuff.
3 years seems more down to the user than the machine itself.
My only reason for wanting to change is down to wanting more power and it's probably cheaper to buy a complete new machine than what it would be to buy everything separately.
As for software and things, I don't think they'd give you for free what I use most, which is like Photoshop, Lightroom, Filmora etc... So I would still need to add those.
Appreciate you taking the time to write that out, it certainly seems then for some folk they are worth the money, but I think for me and my uses, it wouldn't be.
