gti power
I've got my D90 body now, can anyone recommend a way of painting the front grill that's come chromed? is it just a case of rubbing it down and priming ? Thanks.
53HRA
Wet and dry with 1500 to remove bumps and then primer straight over yes
gti power
So my scx10 arrived today spec is as follow's (according to the seller); Savox waterproof servoAloy C Hub CarrierAloy Steering KnucklesJun Fac steel drive ShaftsCastle SV3 Sidewinder comboAloy underbody protectorsProline 2.2 BeadlocksAll stainless steel hex,s were possible..rtr on 2.4 ghz Ive had a little play at work with it, i did intend to keep the D90 shell as a trophy shell and use the Jeep one as my crawling shell. However i have got to shorten the wheel base which i will need advise on as im uncertain as what to do, i can see ill need to replace the x4 rod's which im under the impression are hop up's? Had these wheels off a mate who told me to try them with the D90 body and if so i can buy them off him. Let me know what you think guys, im toying with the idea of filling the rear window's but cant yet decide as i feel im missing out on detailing the rear interior? Ive decided to go with the Volkswagen Mendoza brown and hope to have it something like this Edited January 7, 2015 by gti power

gti power
Longer wheelbase then like honcho I have a set of links for a 90 conversion here Can my existing ones be shortend Gaz? if not how much are you looking for yours? Im guessing i maybe able to sell mine on due to being upgrades?
Gaz!
The existing ones on yours have I think 15mm of internal thread then the rest is just smooth so yes you could shorten them but you would need to re tap the threads in there. I'm willing to do a deal, your lower four and cash for my full set of lower and upper links, you would need to keep your ends and threaded rods though for the links I have. gti power
Also can anyone confirm the wheels off my mate will work with the defender body? The wheel and tyre stand at 100mm?
Gaz!
100mm is about the right size to go for, much bigger and it's going to look like a monster truck.....
gti power
Right been manic at work etc so few updates, im waiting for my link rods courtesy of Big Gaz (thanks for the help) and my servo plate has come so i can start soring my wheel base. Whilst in bits ive noticed the shockers are weeping anyone reccomend where i can purchase a rebuild kit? Just need to flat the clear coat and re do as it has orange peel, what grit wet and dry should i use?
53HRA
Coming along nicely mate,we will have to meet up again and go for an RC bash this time The finer grit the better - Try 1500-2000,but be a extra careful though if applying over newly dried paint.Ideally it needs additional time to dry if sanding on top... Also, once you have done so wipe it down again with a warm soapy cloth, dry with a second cloth and then spray good:
Gaz!
For the shocks, best fix is a pack of Tamiya orange "o" rings, and rebuild them with those, about

smeghead28
I assume you are using the stock SCX10 chassis and just shortening the wheelbase to fit the D90? How are you going to mount the body to the chassis or haven't you thought that far ahead yet

smeghead28
yes and yes...any suggestions? Couple of options I saw http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66275 http://scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=56649 I did notice how the back of the D90 would "hook over" the back of the chassis like in the one post. Maybe do that with the velcro on the front combinded with the hooking over?
Gaz!
I know the guy in the first link and yes that does work and very well. I make custom rock sliders/body mounts for the scx10 chassis too. Have a look at my d90 build thread, (page 4 I think) Let me know I can make you a set up
gti power
So after a very long time i decided to get back onto my D90 replica. I have had some hurdles shortening the wheel base however i feel i have achived it now. Now as you will see im struggling with the ride height, i have looked at various D90's and only a few have managed to achive the perfect height apperance. I can live with it being heigh and have decided to use some of the old parts off the Jeep Rubicon (front and rear bumper and side steps/rock sliders) which has helped protect the body when using the rc. Problem i now have if i want to use the D90 interior its even heigher due to the gearbox/motor housing therefore i have found if i use bigger wheels and tyres it does'nt look too bad, how are you guys getting around this on the scx-10 and also im struggling with mounting the body?
