how much wheelbase can i have spare?

If you have a car with 260mm wheelbase, you need a shell with 260mm wheelbase. No 'spare'

If the shell is meant for a longer or shorter wheelbase, then the wheels will not sit in the wheelarch properly. You can trim a shell a bit, but not much. The wheelarch ends up looking way too big which makes the wheels look too small.

How much depends on you.

Anything more than 5-10mm would look awful to me.

It also depends on the shell itself. If the arches flare out, it's harder to trim. The flatter the side, the easier it is to trim and look right.

Basically....buy a shell that fits!

Do you mean HOW WIDE?

There are shells for 190 mm and 200 mm WIDE.

If you have a chassis set up for 190 mm and you have a 200 mm shell you want to use, the wheels will look a little silly.

This is where you can get a different OFFSET wheels - perhaps +4 or +5 mm.

Does this help?

Al.
