nr73
Hi all Having lots of fun with my scout, but there is one issue with it that can be annoying. When you're creeping forward it can unexpectedly go into full throttle reverse and jump back anything from a few inches to a foot or so. I can't work out a pattern to it. It can happen whether you're steering or not, whether the throttle trim is set anywhere from 5-10, and doesn't seem to be related to the trigger position although I can't fully rule that out. Typically it will happen just as you've nailed a tricky slow obstacle, sending you rapidly back from whence you came... It seems I'm not alone with this issue. I spotted it on a YouTube video and the captioning attributes it to a TX trigger glitch. I don't have another radio with which to try it though. It's in this vid at around 1:50 in.http://youtu.be/XjgRVUIZPBE It definitely does it more when battery voltage starts to do off, which is accompanied by the receiver led flickering. At that point it's time to swap the battery pack, but it does it even on a freshly charged pack. I've also changed batteries in the TX. Just checked the voltage on the 3800mah NiMH it was doing it on half an hour ago and it's still on 7.6v so not to low it would seem. Any suggestions welcome. ghazghul
It's the throttle variable resistor on the tx. Do a search and the maverick tx is known for it. Especially bad in crawler because of the instant reverse and the amount of time you spend at low throttle.
nr73
Is there a fix for the TX or should I really just buy a better TX unit? They are a bit of a mystery to me...
ghazghul
One of mine (out of three) go better buy cycling the throttle front / back a load of times. I ended up getting a FlySky GT3 as it had more features and multi model support along with cheap RX. You could open it up and replace the pot / resistor if you are ok with a soldering iron. nr73
Well I'm glad to say that it hasn't done this once since I set it up with the GT3 last night. Result - thanks!!
ghazghul
Glad it's sorted! Plus you now have extra settings to play with on the controller..
nr73
Yep, the controller is a huge improvement. I've got two saved settings for the scout, one for 100% throttle and one with it dialled down to 60% for crawling, seems to give a bit more fine control.
