Stay, pinion, STAY!

Ok so finally got my hands on a nice fresh Castle 1515 2200kv motor.

Mounted it up in my D8T

Problem is my damn pinion keeps coming loose as soon as its put under stress.

I initially used blue thread lock, but then it came lose. Tho I think initially I had meshed things too tightly.

So undid everything and loosened it off, but again the same.

Ive now done this again, but still keeps coming lose!

Soon as I break hard or get to max rpm it just comes lose.

Should I red threadlock? Bit unsure as I dont want it permanently attached.

Anyone else have trouble like this?

Tho I must say the motor itself is sublime :D

I always use Red on metal to metal,

Thought you was selling the D8T or is that someone else?

Nah no me Jony.

Your thinking of Bigjimknickers

Wont ever sell my D8T, especially with the recent 2014 version having been released :)

(Just as I thought the parts were going to be hellish to find).

But will try a smidgen of red in, think the torque is demanding it.

I know it sounds dumb and you know

Make sure it's on the Flatspot on the motor :)

Already done :P

Clean it with spirits first to remove any grease. Then use red and leave overnight.

Will do!

Mate my understanding is that red loctite is permanent so you might not be able to get the motor off the mount.

I've never had a pinion come off with blue loctite - are you leaving it long enough to cure?

Also, are you absolutely sure you have everything squared up - if your motor mount is bent you might find the pinion is trying to migrate along the shaft.

i use red threadlock on ALL of my pinions, i just heat up my soldering iron, leave it on for a few seconds, then use a good hex driver to take it off, has never failed me, to be fair i use red threadlock everywere aha

I also use red thread lock everywhere! never had any bother removing stuff, if all else fails try file the annoyingly pointless cone shape to flat at the end of grub screw so it makes a better contact with the shaft.
