THE E-Firestorm Thread

Recommended Posts

I'm likely to add a dynamite fuze motor to my firestorm in the very near future, before swapping out to a kit.

Does anybody run this motor 5800kv in their firestorm?

If so I'd be interested in gearing/pinions used as well as overall handling and what tips can be offered to calm wheelies down a little :)

Cheers

After a clear body shell for mine, my firestorm is going to adopt a 2nd look. Doesnt have to be a like for like shell, but ideally a clear one as I'm aiming to paint one up myself.

Any suggestions or links?

OK, as promised i've returned to give an update on spur compatibility.

I tried using the Blitz spur with Blitz pads. As the Blitz shaft is 13.5mm I had to fit a bearing inside of 5x13.5x4, but upon full assembly the slipper plates didn't compress with the pads for it to work properly due to the bearing being about 1mm too wide. I scrapped this ideac123842a-98aa-a891.jpg

Associated t4 spurs would fit, but I didn't have a reamer handy. You would also need the associated slipper pads to do this.

I then decided it might be a good idea to try the spur and slipper pads and plates out of my Mad Rat and they work superbly.

So there you go; Blitz spurs will work, but you'd need a bearing at least 1mm width less than mine.

Associated spurs fit with a slight reaming.

Mad Rat spur, slipper pads and plates fit wonderfully.

I'm now geared 26/80 and am very happy with this setup.

Although the Firestorm is a very good truck I feel that it was a major oversight that they limited the truck to a 87t. Just my opinion.

you could always go to 2.8 wheels too. you would have to gear accordingly for the extra weight and size. i am personally gonna be doin this in the next few weeks/months.
