Clodzilla 3.

Trip...

Recommended Posts

This is a 2013 re-release Clodbuster with a Clodzilla 3 chassis, stock silver can motors, Traxxas EVX-2 (with cutoff) E-Maxx shocks (stock Tamiya shocks shown in pics,) and a Savox 1230 steering servo.

The body shell is from the 2013 kit, but the Chevrolet front grille is from my old Clodbuster from 1988 and the Chevy tailgate is from Ebay. I bought the reproduction decals from a guy over by you guys in the UK.

Poser shot. Those are Savage shocks. A bit too long though.

Another poser shot, this time climbing my daughters school bus.

I went with the ESP Clodzilla 3 chassis because I always wanted one when I was a kid, but there was no way I could afford a $200 chassis and it would have been even harder to get my parents to buy it. So I waited 25 years and finally built just exactly what I wanted. I did all I could to make this truck look just like the truck I dreamed about when I was 12. All that's missing now is a set of Ram lights, mirrors and windscreen wipers, I'm still looking for those, so if anyone has a lead on those, please let me know.

I have about a hundred other pictures, but no sense in blowing up this thread on the first post. If you guys would like to know more about it, please let me know.

I hope you enjoy,

Trip..

And a final short vid...

Yeah, it doesn't handle very well, but it LOOKS cool.

I need a set of wheel extenders desperately! As it is now the front tires rub the upper 4-link rods when I turn.

Truly Epic...and Stunning looks !

Thanks you kind Sir!

My monster is like a rat on crystal meth....but we dont buy Monsters for handling do we !  :xd:

You must have a lot of discipline.... ! A truck that nice looking can't be driven GTA style !

It's made me rethink my summer E maxx project......about time I owned an RC that doesn't look like the cat has retched it up  :shockingscary:

It was -25C and it took me over an hour to get that 1 minute vid yesterday... 3 cameras and whatnot.

I normally drive it a bit harder, but I was gong for something a bit different for the vid. It wasn't easy to go that slow and I had to put the evx in trainer mode to slow it down a bit more. I won't wheel it with the red CB shell on it because I have over $100 invested in just that shell. So I had to run me old Savage Charger shell.

Every time I run the Red Clodbuster shell, people stop when they are driving or walking by to admire it. It's a feeling of pride that I don't get when I'm running my other R/C's even my 1/5 scales, people notice those too because of the noise, but seeing a guy drive by in his 1/1 car and about drive into the ditch with his jaw open to admire my Clodbuster is a bit humbling.

I think it reminds people of their own R/C's from years past, and in 1987 there was nothing cooler or more desirable than the Clodbuster painted up in box art!

I am looking for a clodzilla chassis kit anyone know where I could buy one from not sure if they even still make them lol

You make them.

take the front and rear clodbuster axles and motor units.

grab a ladder frame or what most do is knock up some side plates.

then its just laying out the axles, making up the 4x trailing link arms

and attaching them to chassis plates/ladder and axles.

add a servo to the top of the front axle.

add a servo to the top of the rear axle.

battery can be placed in/on the chassis low down.

you end up with a ClodMod , from there you go to zilla frame and onwards

the zilla's are an old design.

modclod / clodzilla , it was a jumped up version.

as with the hobby things move, tastes change. the zilla chassis was popular

but others came out like zilla2 zilla3 etc etc, upgraded versions that were tweeked

best place to find a kit would be ebay and the likes, you may find a full kit or parts like a frame set here or there.

clodbusters kinda started the crawler craze two axles inc dual motors meant they could be used on any homebrew chassis.

in the end the axles become wanted units, people grabs up clods just for the axles making 30-60 quid each..

now technology and us as hobby users changed, we wanted more powerful setups, more articulation and climbing

clods went out and in came a new breed, center driven transfer box to solid axles ( moving from dual motor to single motor).

keep your options open if you can, there are and were some very nice third party transversal plate chassis made for the clods

its just a waiting game for them to pop up here and there
