  1. Hi, After some advice and guidance..........as honestly I don't really know what I'm doing 🙂 Spent the afternoon trying to see if I could get my VERY old Traxxas Rustler running for a quick spin but could do with some help on making sure I've got all the high speed, low speed and idle adjustments correct. The engine has not been broken in, its probably been driven less than 5 times in its life, and it's probably around 20 years old at a guess. It's the Pro .15 Engine. I had another attempt at getting this running about 5 years ago and fitted a Traxxas EZ-Start motor as I'd had so many failures with the pull cord starter. I’ve checked against the settings provided for this engine here: https://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/topic/70534-nitro-engine-factory-needle-settings-list/ Question - Does adjusting the throttle opening via the Transmitter throttle dial do the same thing as adjusting the Idle screw? I tried to turn the Idle screw but couldn’t get it to budge, my screwdriver wasn’t great plus I think being 20 years old it probably needs a bit of a strength. Today I primed the engine by pressing the fuel pump button and after probably 15/20 minutes did get the engine to start. I’ve included a photo which shows the opening size, increasing the opening using the transmitter dial did increase the number of starts I had. My problem is once it does start the wheels start spinning, increasing in speed and then it usually cuts out. This behaviour just repeats over and over. Reducing the opening size, I struggled to get any successful starts……couldn’t find a happy medium. The maximum opening size wasn’t much more than 1.5-2mm tops I’d say. Question - Should I be able to be able to start this unbroken-in engine and get the car to idle, or at least not be moving at what feels like full speed? Or does that only come with breaking in an engine? I need to replace the fuel tube from the tank to the engine as it keeps coming lose / disconnects at the tank end; I was just hoping I could get started today and idle a bit before replacing that part. Fuel wise, I’m using a 16% nitro blend as advised by a local store, not sure if this is correct or not. I've also somehow managed to lose the Air filter and foam in the past week so need to replace that now also. Any help or pointers would be really appreciated. Doug
  2. Traxxas nitro slash 1/10th scale- boxed this comes with a pull start fitted and electric ez start set up aswell. 2x ez start Wands (one wand had a fault with ignition this could be a easy fix however I bought a second. 1x Traxxas pull start 1x Traxxas controller 2.4hz 1x nitro slash car I also have 1 or 2 spare traxxas 72 teeth pinion gears. in terms of condition the car is A1 no cracks or brakes in the body of chassis starts and drives brilliantly, however this hasn’t been started in a while I did however get it running for a short period of time earlier this afternoon but it ran a little boggy so will defo need a tune. reason for the change to pull start was the wand I had at the time was faulty and couldn’t find any in stock locally however recently I was able to find one and purchased it to complete the set, I can change this over prior to sale if needed or send it with the pull start and the electric start for you to switch yourself. please don’t hesitate to get in contact I am accepting offers. postage is available at buyers expense 🙂 If you would like a video of it running please get in contact this can be arrange. £300 including postage or £280 collected

  4. I'm an amateur in the area, but I thought I'd put a fan in the engine to perform its cooling. I don't mean that my car is getting too hot, it's not that, it's been a very hot days lately, and yesterday when I went for a walk with the car, I walked with it for three minutes without slowing down, the engine temperature was at 111 degrees, and this idea came because I'm good with electronics and it might be a good idea, I don't know, i don't know Maybe someone already has the idea, and even already assembled it, if so, please, i would appreciate some advice from someone more understood. Thank you and good curves 😉😉

  6. Hi all, I have a new LRP ZR28 Spec 4. I ran the first few tanks gently with the provided glow plug, eventually, it failed. I replaced the plug with a brand new one and ran another few tanks through it yesterday no issue. I took the car out today and it wouldn't start, checked the plug and there was no glow, the filament inside of the plug looked very damaged. I replaced the plug with another new one, checked it and it was fine. Placed it in the car, pulled the starter a few times and again it wouldn't start. I checked the plug and it looked exactly the same as the one I'd just replaced, very damaged filament and no glow. Is there a reason why this may be happening? I didn't see anything online suggesting I'd need a specific type of plug. I used standard glow plugs with a washer. The car ran fine on the same type of plug yesterday, I only pulled the starter a few times today and broke 2 plugs. I have attached photos of both plugs. Thanks in advance for your help!
  7. Hi, as the title suggests, I'm losing interest in electric rc. I have had numerous RC's of all kinds. Micro, large scale, electric, nitro etc. I recently got a typhon 6s and quickly fell in love. However, a few months ago I picked up a hpi trophy truggy 4.6, my first nitro for a couple of years. I remember one day taking the typhon and hpi for a bash, first running the hpi and having a great time. I then switched to the typhon and it almost felt boring. It was fast and jumped high, but it just felt like nothing. I've run the typon once since then and it was okay until the steering servo died and since then its been sat on the shelf and I have no real motivation to sort it. I'm considering selling it and getting a nitro buggy to run alongside the hpi truggy at a local track. Is this a good decision? It would mean that both of my main RC's are nitro and while I do have areas to run them, I know how much hassle they can be sometimes. I have a few smaller electric RC's to mess with, but nothing else like the typhon. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? I like the idea of having one of each, but I'm just not liking electric at the moment. What should I do? and if I were to buy a new nitro, what would be recommended? Thanks
  8. Hi all don’t know where to start but back in the day I had a hpi mt2 and I loved it and the hobby but life moved on and I lost interest. fast forward to now and I’ve got the bug back! my nephew has got a nitro truck and it’s got me wanting one again the question is a lot has changed since I owned a car so I’m looking for recommendations on which model to get me back into it.I don’t want to go down the cheap route as you end up repairing them more than actually using them ha ha so my budget it between £300 to £400 so hoping to get some knowledge off you guys. Thanks jay
  9. I have converted a "Chinese" nitro buggy (1/10 scale) into an electrical powered rally car, without a kit conversion. The first thing is to disassemble the nitro engine, brakes, exhaust pipe, throttle servo and nitro tank: The motor mounting adapter can be bought from ebay or aliexpress. It's very cheap. Adjustment slots: This motor (Graupner 600, 550 size) can operate at 2S or 3S Lipo: I put the ESC, receiver and battery. The battery is fastened with "velcro": I also changed the body por una del coche "Citroen ZX rally" and adapted the mounting posts with aluminum profiles. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qCfxifTULkw/XlT3ChscdlI/AAAAAAAAMuk/GZKCRaohz3UJVF7npbZF-VtwkxUUbUWXgCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/36.JPG[/img ] This is the new car: The car in action (video): The complete process is here (in spanish lang.): http://reparar-cochesrc.blogspot.com/2017/04/reparar-diferencial-de-master-vh-x5.html

  11. Does anyone know if a dynamite .21 mach 2 or the big red .28 will fit in the HSP Flying Fish nitro drift car? I am buying the HSP without a tx/rx and engine, cheaper that way. And a buddy has the .21 and .28, I just dont want to drive 3 hrs to him only to find neither will fit. Anyone out here know? Thanks in advance.
  12. https://www.worldofrcparts.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=15 Is this a decent guide to begin tuning? Recently bought an hpi trophy 3.5 and a hyper 7 tq sport second hand and got them both running but want to look after them tuning wise and hopefully thats a decent guide to start 🤷‍♂️
  13. Hey guys, I've recently started with rc cars and was wondering how cross compatible parts are? Like if I wanted to fit a new engine do they have to be car specific or do most fit on most models?
  14. Hey I'm new to rc and not sure what to buy. Currently have brushed maverick strada xb which is fun but only runs for 10 mins. Not sure if I should buy more powerfull brushless and lots of lipo batteries or nitro buggy. I mainly just want to be able to play for longer with my kid haha.
  15. Hi, I'm new ish to the world of nitro rc vehicles, and with my latest purchase of a Nanda NRB-5 buggy, I also purchased a Fastrax Roto-Start so that I could save my fingers from too much damage by getting them caught in the pull-start as I have previously done! My issues is, that the Roto-Start didn't come with a battery. So, my question is, what sort of mAh rating battery do I need to put in the Roto-Start as I've seen a variety of answers from 1500 mAh to 5000 mAh on other forums so would like to ask this question here where I can put out my query instead of picking bits from all over the internet and hoping for the best, while also being able to interact with those who answer my query incase I need any further clarification. Many thanks in advance. Matt
  16. Just a quick hello from myself, finding a lot of time on my hands these days now that I'm working from home so I'm in the process of deciding what new toy I need to treat myself to. I used to race RC buggies a very long time ago at a brilliant club in Macclesfield - Macctrak, before it burned down with my Schumacher Top Cat & Kyosho Optima Mid. Seems that things have moved on in the last 20 years so I'm well out of touch! I'm looking at a few different nitro buggy's; HPI Trophy, Kyosho Inferno Neo or HoBao Hyper 7 but if I'm honest, I've not a clue what the differences are or which is the best. I'm also looking at the FTX Carnage for my 8yo son to start with. Any advice is appreciated, its difficult to buy without talking to the experts in the shop, gutted that Modelsport is currently closed without telephone support as I'd give them a call to discuss the various options open to me, I'll probably have to wait for the shops to open so I can pop down there & get some face to face advice.
