Micro/Midi Stereo system (DAB, CD, ipod), to sit on the shelf in the kitchen - other than Currys, Richer Sounds, any other places I should be looking at? Thanks

What's people opinions on the best battery power tool range? They all offer a one battery fits all however I'm not sure what ecosystem is best for the long run? This is for at home doing odd jobs however I'd rather buy something decent as no doubt il need other stuff going forward to it would be cheaper in the long run just to have one battery to fit all.

I'm very much a Makita fan boy, I have an LXT drill (must be like 8-9 years old now, seen hell and will not die), compact drill driver, impact driver, sander, tracksaw(twin 18v), mitresaw(twin 18v), trim/palm router, work light, vacuum cleaner, oscillating multi-tool. Mains powered I have a jigsaw, another trim/palm routerand an angle grinder.
So they definitely have my vote of confidence... HOWEVER, i did by an 18v circular saw that got sent straight back to them as it had been assembled wonky and the adjusted screw for the bevel guide was tightened to much so that I couldn't fix it without accepting that the angle guide would be inaccurate... so there is QC issues to watch out for with the Chinese/Romanian assembled parts.
They have committed to continuing support of the 18v platform despite the 40v one being released and the product range expanding very quickly... bit of a shame they didn't go in the same direction as Dewalt with their flexvolt... although part of me wonders if this is to avoid having more electronics in the battery, which would give them better durability long term.
With Bosch I have a 12v Max brushed one, and I have to say that so far its a great drill. The battery is much smaller and the ergonomics due to that make it a really nice drill, where the big heavy 18v LXT stuff can feel a bit unbalanced due to the fact they only sell double stacked batteries. For a "house" drill, I think it's a much better fit where the LXT is a much better work drill.... but my experience is significantly limited to just one tool.

Hi Paul.
I believe you are the man in the know when it comes to 3d printing parts.........
I have a friend who would willingly print me some spare parts but I don't even know where to get started on what filament is best or where to find scematics.......
Only just starting out in the RC world and have only bought a Maverick Phantom but it is for a 7 year-old so expecting plenty of carnage.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Yeah I mean, I wouldnt say that... you just have to treat it for what it is.e.g. If you want a custom protector for the top of the shock towers... 3d printing works great.
Have a look around online and see what people use 3D printing for in RC. Some people have made RC cars entirely out of printed parts, but you will see a lot of people using it for customisation and modding.
I print parts out of Nylon all the time. I actually just got some new super stron carbon filled nylon and reckon I can get real close to stock strength for parts, but it took me a lot of practice and experience to learn it, and you can't print this stuff on any old printer.

With the specific parts I mentioned, unless you can get them printed in Nylon, it's a waste of time.... but designing something like an arm or a bulkhead model isn't a 5 minute task. You can copy the stock one, but that's optomised for injection mould, not printing. It likely wont work well and will require a lot of time and effort to tweak it to work. Unless your mate wants to redesign a part for free, which is something I would discourage, you're better off buying the part as design time, plastic, electricity.... it's not cheaper to print.
PLA, ABS, PETG will all be far too brittle for RC bashing use if it's used on core parts it will break on the first outing in most cases. Some kinds of TPU can work out pretty well, but it's a flexible material so does come with it's own problems.
There are some parts that you can get away with using 3D printer for, for sure, but given that a car is made up of hundreds of parts, I don't have exhaustive list of dos and donts 😁
The general principle is that 3D printing is great for customizing and modifying, not great for stock replacement.

Hi mate, in general for replacement parts, you're not going to print something stronger than stock. Common things to break such as A-Arms or bulkheads you're much better off ordering the parts from Modelsport/Wheelspin and the like.
Where printing comes in is designing parts that are a bit different such as mudguards, ESC Button brackets, Spur protection.... things like that.
In terms of finding the parts, you can find some things for popular models online, but I tend to design my own in Fusion 360. Takes a bit of commitment to learn, but its a decent skill.

2nd Pfizer Covid Vaccine done. Now we await the side effects

Haha, found a new RC hate culture. With Treal releasing their axles all the Vitavon fanboys/mugs have taken to the Ryft groups to express how rubbish Treal and even Vanquish are compared to Vitavon, it’s like Arrma fanboys trying to take the mick out of Tekno 😂

I'm rich........... Well in body clips! 100 for £4

What's the deal with buying from EU now then, what fees/tax can I expect?
-
As jack says, the seller should charge tax, so you shouldnt get stung with that. If it isnt shown on the order... don't go through with it. It will get stopped at customs and then all kinds of charges slapped on for them processing whatever it is.
This is worth a read:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/buying-online-from-europe-post-brexit/
But essentially, it's just a roll of the dice still. The system is so complicated, no-one seems to be able to boil it down into language that normal people can understand.

Feels like I have a problem, sneaking off from my family saying to myself, "just one more bag".
Currently doing "bag K" 😄

Absolute liars 😠
Been in all day, I have a doorbell and a dog, no way I miss a delivery, especially at 10:50
No Tekno for me today then
-
I didn't even get a card. I don't even think they loaded it onto a van, I think they just decided to not send it out yesterday and clicked the button on the system to say that it was by my request.
Thing is, I don't mind if they don't get it sorted and shipped on time due to a backlog, if they just admit this is the situation. When the tracking says, "customer requested xyz" is when my back gets up.
I presume this is to try and avoid refunds on the postage cost due to not meeting the delivery target, so I might talk to RPRC and find out if I can fight them to get my £3.99 back out of pure spite for the lie 😂
The package is on the map today though, so perhaps they will actually deliver it.

Bit of a strange one, perhaps, but can anyone recommend me some top dog danglies scissors?
Not Lexan scissors, just every day straight edge cutting things scissors. I've had a few pairs over the years and wondering if I should replace my now blunt set of cheapos with some half decent ones. The last half decent ones I got are a bit pap.

Some of the most recent LOL comments on Arrma facebook. I've seen it a few times recently so I'm paraphrasing, but it usualy goes something like:
"I put a spool in the back of my kraton and now it turns like a barge" -
Too small for my tastes, but something new from Arrma.

Like the look of that, but not sure why its 60 quid more than the Granite BLX?
No indeed. It's an interesting direction to take the platform, and judging how my Granite works, I think this could work well, but the only significant difference is that it has some kind of AVC in the radio system... £60 is a lot of money for a feature most people don't care about.

Soo close to buying a Maxx, just don't know if I can justify the price of it. Would like to get something to replace the Felony but have no idea what. Though it's probably going be irrelevant as I'm starting to get the impression that my little CBR125 might cost more to get it running again than I first thought.
-
I'm with @.AJ., The wheelbase is roughly the same on the MT410 as the Maxx so in terms of portability, there isnt much in it. It's a very large "1/10" scale vehicle. In reality, in RC terms, it's more of a 1/8, similar to the Outcast.
If you want something more portable, then the Granite might be more your thing. I think those who have tried the Rival have commented that it isn't as durable as the Arrma equivalent.

Finally, after years of looking, I've found myself another Taiyo Heads Up Hopper, in yellow... which was my first ever RC!
Not sure what I'll actually do with an old, toy-grade buggy, of course, but I'm looking forward to it! Nostalgia is a powerful thing.
Anyway, it's collectible and rare, so I'm sure I can sell it on for no loss, if nothing else!

HiFi gurus - can you get a lead to connect an iphone to some older style HiFi Mini System speakers? The ones that have two leads each (red/black) that then insert into the back of the mini system via those little spring loaded clamp thingies? So four cables from speakers not the more modern type of one per speaker - RCA?
-
You just need one of those little bluetooth amps from Amazon. The Fosi ones @Ninetiesbeard mentioned are exactly that.
I'm pretty sure the speaker connectors on the back of them just take bare wires. They also take banana plugs, which are sort of like RC bullet connectors, but usually they also unscrew, revealing a hole you put the bare copper through, then screw tight again to hold the cable in place.
I'll check mine tomorrow and make sure it's not JUST a banana plug that they accept, but if you're handy with a solding iron then you could use banana plugs.
