  1. Rest in peace loops rc. One of the coolest scale parts makers imo

      What happened to them?

      Ninetiesbeard

Theyve stopped trading, seems like the owner suddenly closed up looking at what their facebook said

  2. Grade 2 titanium is around the same hardness to work as stainless steel, really simple to make some titanium links for crawlers at home, maybe £30 in stock and £20 for drills and taps.

  3. Anyone here using gmade VR-01 wheels? are they steel or plastic? cant see that info anywhere

More often than not the cheap ones are low grade.

Its for a unimog build, i really like the scale look of them, look almost exactly like the real ones

I'm using plastic Gmade wheels (different ones) and the quality is really good. I've no complaints. If you like them, go for it!

  4. Surpass pinions are pretty bad quality, just a heads for anyone buying them. Id say probably 3s max.

Yeah proper cheese metal. I'm with OHO... RW racing are the way forward.

Tekno pinions are also very good.

Sagacustom gears, RW gears, GDS gears and Traxxas are the ones I use & in order of preference.

Stock Arrma ones are also pretty good in my experience. I'd put them ahead of the GDS ones, which can be a bit hit or miss. I've had a couple of those strip off in one run.

  5. Anyone know where to get MST parts in the uk?

  6. Does anyone know the width of a TRX-4 portal axle pin to pin? Might use them for a project. thanks

      Is this any help ?

      Quote

Rear axle hex pin to pin they are 192mm wide ( I assume front axle is the same)

Front axle link mounts centre to centre: 72mm
Rear axle link mounts centre to centre: 73.5mm

Thanks bud :) guy rejected my offer anyway, no way on this earth im paying £250 for three portal axles lol

  7. Well, you can run a hobbywing 1080 esc off of 3 18650s

      Sorry, what are 3 18650s? 🤔

    3. Ninetiesbeard

      Ninetiesbeard

18650 is referring to a specific size of cell, which are often used for vape batteries. I believe they are also what powers cordless tools most of the time

    4. Lone-wolf

      Lone-wolf

A lot of rc flyers are using 18650 Li-ion packs in planes, they dont have the same punch as Lipo but can give good duration on low amp draw craft, i did pose a question a while back as to using these in crawlers but did not get much response

  8. Okay so. Just installed a 2 speed transmission in my vaterra, with the GCM motor relocation kit. Fabbed a linkage, and a mount; everything seems cool. Im trying my absolute hardest to set the end points correctly, but even when the servo is idling, its getting warm. The servo i got with the trans melted on me at the weekend, and this one was BNIP when i got it today. What am i doing wrong?

That is something i didnt consider. Technically if the esc is getting old, maybe the BEC wont be working as well? would an external BEC help here? its only a 1080 anyway so im not too worried, but yeah that is a good point. Probably too much voltage too.

    3. Oh How Original

      Oh How Original

If the ESC is failing, replace it, a BEC won't fix that and the BEC in the 1080 is actually very very good... Better than a lot of high end Castle/Tekin/Hobbywing stuff.

Do you have another ESC you can test it with? I would personally say it's that, but can you try lowering the BEC voltage? Some servos will be listed at 7.4v but won't like to run at it, that's when a separate BEC can be handy to set it at 7v or even 7.2.

All good ideas. Ive got a 1060 kicking around somewhere too. Ill have a look at programming and see where that gets me, thanks :)

  9. Just scored a set of pitbull growlers from ebay for £25, deal of the day for sure

    1. Oh How Original

      Oh How Original

Why don't I ever find those deals, damn you lol, I need some nice tyres!

    2. Ninetiesbeard

      Ninetiesbeard

Dont get me wrong theyre used, id probably say 80% life remaining but it sure beats 60-70 on a new set. Might stick my Bf goodrich up for sale if the growlers are in good enough condition

    3. Oh How Original

      Oh How Original

Even with 30% life left they will outperform most other tyres.

I've just bought two sets from Amain, after my first set escaped customs I am hoping the same for the second and I'll have got both sets for £48 each which I am more than happy with

  10. Anyone got any 1.55 tyres they would like to part with?

  11. Anyone know any good makes of metal bluing fluid? sometimes called gun blue? need to do my vise. Cheers

Shipping from America makes no sense cost wise, sometimes it's expensive and other times it's not 🤔🤪

I noticed on eBay some Arrma parts that cost £3-4 have £11 shipping yet another ad has £5 item for free shipping.

I honestly think the Americans just put the price up so people won't buy from them as it's too much hassle for them to ship abroad........

    3. Ninetiesbeard

      Ninetiesbeard

100% brian, especially when i poked them they said they could go to £200. if i didnt think the amp was too expensive anyway, id have an american friend buy it and do a little switcharoo lol

      A build thread is a must👌

  18. Have got back on board with my ascender, feels good. Got the vast majority of it back together now, didnt realise how sparse parts supply is for these now. Good thing it doesnt break much. Ive got a few crawlery bits i need to list here, as well as some baja bits.

  19. Lost motivation to finish my crawler project. Should i buy a new kit instead? ive properly designed myself into a corner and would rather just have something to run at this point

If you wanted to buy it mate, i would 100% unload it onto you, i need about £200 to justify building the truck i have in mind. Id want to keep certain bits but youre welcome to all the rest :)

  20. So i ordered a motor from a company on 28/4 and i still dont have it. Paid via paypal, could possibly file a claim. They are stating that the motor is custom made, and that i cant return it. What should i do? wait? or file a claim?

Yeah custom TP motors do take a while, 6-8 weeks usually but as you've gone through Alien that'll add more time to it.

I'd advise you to order from the TP power germany site if you want one in the future. Their site has motors in stock ready to go and delivery times are much quicker, usually cheaper too.

    3. Ninetiesbeard

      Ninetiesbeard

i paid £127 all in delivery included, not a bad price but i dont even need the motor now. Its for my 1/5, but the surpass i have is powerful enough lol. God knows what that tp will do.

    4. pieman5

      pieman5

😂 They are very good beasty motors. A lot of us use them in the speed running scene.

Just shove it in and give it a test run, you won't want to take it out lol

  21. Baja update; No problems. Drive adaptor fell apart last run but lasted this one with no issues. 18 minutes run time from two gens ace 6750 packs. Weight estimated at around 13kg.

Ive got the hostile and viper combo, but ive got the slicks too for on road, im going to set it up on road because its less resistance then move to offroad when i know it works well :)

  25. Printed two wheel components, came away with a laundry list of parts to change, an hour later and im ready for the next printing session. Getting faster for sure
