  1. Couldn't get a dry day so thought stuff it and went out in the wet. At least I have a baseline number to start from and hopefully improve from so I can start making changes now.
  2. Not seen the wheelbase yet but there are options for the 1/7th scale from Delta Plastiks and Bitty Design which would probably work.
  3. Great to see Hobao doing something like this.
  4. I tend to watch his videos only if it's an RC I'm interested in seeing but I know that there are a few people on here who do watch him regularly so worth pointing out just in case.
  5. Just thought I'd post this on here. I'm sure most people on here are sensible enough not to be caught out by this type of thing but sometimes people aren't so here's the warning video....
  6. That is definitely a possibility.
  7. Most definitely. 😎 Already got a lot of plans and have been researching this as it's all new to me but I won't know if any of the ideas I have are good until I get out to start testing. First thing I want to do is a baseline test with the Infraction to see firstly if it even pulls straight off the line and if so what time do I get over 132ft which is what we're racing over in the league. Then I'll start making some changes to the suspension, geometry, diff fluids etc etc and run it again after each change. Basically I'm only going to do one thing at a time so I can see how that effects things as that will make it easier to back track then if it's a change for the worse. Hopefully will have a new Sky RC GPS meter turning up next week so I can try it out.
  8. I enjoy speed running so when a friend of mine invited me to a new RC 1/7th & 1/8th scale drag racing UK page on Facebook it definitely peaked my interest. Link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1118696538867901 I've already got some cars in those scales set up for speed runs so didn't really fancy messing with my set ups to try drag racing. With that in mind I searched for a while for a good used Arrma Infraction as it was an RC I'd fancied for a while. It meant selling some things to buy it as well as promising the Mrs it was the last RC I'd buy (well this year anyway, sshhh) . Really starting this more so for just somewhere to log my progress but if others find it interesting as well then that's great ~ it will be a slow build project though but I will update as often as I can. For now though here it is as standard.
  9. Long time no see. 😉 Great to see you're still doing the speed runs my friend, ...it's addictive and such fun. I'm still at it with my Typhon and a few other cars now.
  10. It's great @Ant.p to see you enjoying your speed runs and progressing. I wouldn't worry about the gains you're making as a new PB is a new PB even if only by a mph or two or whatever. Take the win. 😀 Congrats.
  11. @Andy20xe not sure how far this is from you but could be a bargain and something to tinker/build up. Link:
  12. I've also messaged this member to ask him the same question but no response yet. Last visited on Monday so maybe doesn't have the chance to visit the site as often as some of us do.
  13. Asked for some more pinion gears to help feed my speed addiction but other than that not much else. Can't really go spending big on each other at the moment and if I want RC's vehicles I usually buy them myself (cause they're expensive as @supersavage touched on).
  14. @everclear1984 not sure if any use to you but I spotted a for sale this evening on Facebook in a group called " RC Cars For Sale In Uk Only" from a guy called "Jamie Docking" for a load of Arrma parts to convert 3-4S plastic diffs to steel. Quote: For sale, the parts to convert your 3/4S plastic diff, to steel. You will need the internal gears and pins from your stock diff. AR310885 cnc metal crown wheel. 37t AR310886 cnc metal pinion. 13t AR310875 diff gasket set AR310772 composite diff case. When bought from Modelsport these cost £60.39. I’m asking £55 inc postage plus paypal fees, no offers. Link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/696931667041400/?hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen&multi_permalinks=4540167199384475
  15. Went to a local Facebook RC club/group meet today. What a poop show.
Maybe 25+ people there and although friendly enough people there it was really dangerous.
Was held on a small industrial estate type area. I was there for maybe 15 minutes before I saw some poor guy (maybe in his late 40's early 50's) get wiped out by a huge 10kg+ monster truck. Literally took his legs out and smashed him to the ground.
Driver was apologetic obviously but there was no safety or basic rules arranged by any of the so called club leaders.
I've spoken to the guy who got hit and he's actually in a lot of pain now, ...hurt his back & ribs as well as a few cuts/bruises.
I stayed for only a short while after that accident then left. Didn't even bother taking my RC truck out of the car in the end so slowly discharging my batteries now back to storage charge. Waste of a day.

Basic rules shouldn't be needed, to most of us it's obvious; "everyone drive in the same direction, and well away from the pit area". Sadly too many people can't figure that for themselves.

And yes, I've crashed into my own legs several times. And a Baja flattened one of my boys when he was about ten, nowt to do with me.

Sadly rules are needed as some people leave their common sense at home, going to an event and returning injured due to no fault of your own isnt good form.
This is why BRCA exists also... Sad to hear the event wast good G, compared to Rossa I can imagine many events wouldnt stack up, its so proffesionally run.

Cheers @Redback . I thought I'd go to see what it was like but definitely not for me.
I just felt bad for the guy that got hit and I don't even know him. A few of us went to check on him as well as the driver who hit him but it just felt like nobody else was that bothered and carried on.
Maybe I'm just used to the great group spirit that the ROSSA UK team of us all has. ❤️ :good:

  16. Had a cheap one, was rubbish and only lasted a year or two. Was used for cutting stainless steel, wood and polishing in that time. Bought a Dremel over a decade ago for £50 from Argos for a set and it's still going great. In over a decade it's cut stainless steel, carbon fibre, wood, polished metal and more. Personally I'd say go for a genuine Dremel especially as the price difference is usually only £20-£30 odd anyway and they'll be plenty of offers about at Christmas/Boxing day etc.
  17. Honestly I'd just stick it in there. Not loads of difference between 5K and 20K imho, ....if it was between 5K and 200K then it'd be a bit different but either way I think it will be okay.
  18. Hi Ian, the best place to get fasteners from is a company that specialises in them otherwise you end up paying over the odds. The company I use is called "GWR Fasteners". Link: https://www.gwr-fasteners.co.uk/ If it's for a crawler that will be getting wet a lot you might want to go for stainless steel fastenings. Plenty to choose from on that site.
  19. I have a local modelshop that do a few bits for my speed run RC's that most other modelshop's don't do, imported bodyshells from the USA & tyres from Italy but for everything else I will always shops around for the best prices. Tbh every single RC that I have bought brand new in the last 2 years bar one has been from Modelsport UK as if you ask them they will price match anywhere else providing they can.
  20. They'll come in useful though on most other RC's as metric is more common than imperial. They're the best you can get though imho so good decision on brand.
  21. Welcome aboard. I think the fact you've got a son to enjoy this hobby with as well as your brother by the sounds of it too will help keep you interested again for decades to come. Have fun.
