  1. Thanks to all who messaged - need to find somewhere to run it when done. That might not be thst easy Cheers Ian
  2. Hi Looking for recommendations - I need a roll cage for my build and want to make sure I get something strong enough to protect the car Anyone got any experience of what to buy ? Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of choice in the uk - would you go plastic or metal / alloy ? Thanks in anticipation
  3. Ran out time for today - one issue was the support plate and bearing for the diff input shaft - now that has been removed everything is free but the gears dont fit so I assume the plate and bearing was moving the shaft out of line Merry Christmas everyone - I hope Santa is kind to you all with some new 1/5th scale toys 🙂
  4. Thanks for the responses - I've removed the dog bones from both sides and the brake assembly - you can now spin the input shaft freely and its smooth - so it looks the rear diff is ok. I had to rmeove the brake though for it to be totally free
  5. I've tightened the straps so the wheels are level on the stand - it runs more free but still cogs
  6. Hi All I've started to build a hybrid - I bought a rolling chassis from Taylor RC - his service was really good BUT - I am concerned about 2 things The first is the operation of the rear diff - when you turn the rear wheels on the stand with the support straps fitted - the movement is really cogging and you can see the suspension arms moving up and down as you rotate the wheel - I've added a video to show what's happening I need to know if this is normal or something I should be concerned about - I've not stripped this down it is as delivered, ive installed the engine and wheels up to now The second issue is the operation of the gears - there is no room for adjustment that I can see on this chassis (without slotting etc), the engine fits where it fits on the base plate and then its also bolted to the various machined parts on the car - so there's no room for movement I fitted the motor pinion first and then the larger gear on the input shaft of the rear diff - the mesh seemed perfect until you rotate the gears - there is a tight spot over approx 20 degreees of movement - the other 340 degrees is ok, you can slide the larger gear in and out so there's clearance without it being sloppy - but in the tight area the gear wont move - I'm concerned about the load being applied to the bearings It's as if the gear is not concentric - any ideas on this - anyone seen anything like it ? I dont want to do anything further with this build unitl i understand the above 20211224_124346.mp4
  7. Hi all - new member here in Beverley - new to the hobby and the group. Learning as I go 🙂 Decided to go down the 1/5th scale petrol route - bought a Baja and a Losi 5T clone - first drive this weekend all being well Nice to be on here - looks like an excellent pool of knowledge from like minded people Cheers Ian
  8. Things have moved on since my first post 🙂 - I've got hold of a Reactive Pro 32cc tuned engine, supposedly puts out 8bhp How would you compare this to the bigger bore engines Taylor RC makes - on thier site there's no detail on output power to allow you to compare the models he makes Anyone got experience of my engine compared to the larger bore options I've decided to build a Hybrid Outlaw Thanks
  9. Hi all - I'm an engineer who loves messing with motorbikes, engines etc - during winter I'd like to build a 2 stroke RC car scale approx 1:5 (not sure if they are classed as Baja) I've done lots of searching on the web, I can find details on engines from companies such as ALX but not on any kits to get me going Any help or direction would be hugely appreciated Thanks
