    New Wheels and Maxx Tires

    Maxx tires features a unique tread pattern with multiple layers of biting edges for sure-footed traction on just about any surface. The heavy duty rubber compound is specially formulated to resist tearing and bonds exceptionally well with Traxxas’ Ultra Premium tire glue. The 2.8” wheels have a large glue surface for bead mounting and utilize a 17mm hex mounting pattern with a flanged locknut.

    Full Length Motor Cradle

    Maxx uses a full length motor cradle to fully support the 540XL motor to eliminate gear-crunching flex. The innovative fixed gear mesh system precisely sets the gear mesh with fixed pins so you can focus on driving and having fun and never have to worry about gear mesh adjustment.

    Shock Tower Design

    Maxx’s integrated shock towers are part of the chassis and produce a rigid, triangulated structure for secure mounting of the shocks and body. They also provide an authentic off-road look that fills in the wheel openings of the truck. Sometimes the landing after a jump does not go as planned, so the upper shock mounts are shrouded for protection against impacts and grinding.

    The steering servo in Maxx is the same size as the steering servo used on the giant X-Maxx. With 285oz-in of torque, it has strength and power in reserve for fast response and incredible steering authority.

    GT-Maxx Aluminum Shocks

    The four extra-large bore, oil-filled GT-Maxx shocks provide super plush damping even on the roughest terrain. Extra-large diameter shock shafts move smoothly through the double X-ring seals for responsive damping. Machined aluminum bodies are threaded to adjust ride height while the lower spring retainers are captured by screws to keep them secure, even on the harshest landings.

    Full Contact Sealed Bearings

    Maxx utilizes full contact sealed bearings throughout the driveline to keep out the grime and grit. Less downtime for cleaning and maintaining bearings equals more run time for the Maxx.

    While it does look kinda cool.. 20kg servo? 

     

    Also love that they advertise it as 60mph truck, but put in the small print that you'll only get 60mph with the optional (sold separately) high speed gearing. A 20kg servo and no optional gearing for $550.

    Traxxas make great marketing videos but it's just a plastic high CoG truggy that costs more but does less than the 6S BLX range.

    I hope they've fixed the body mounts. Every time I've seen an Xmaxx go off a big jump, no matter how it lands that body comes right off.

    I buy rc trucks to have fun not worry about the company’s ethics 

     

    Did I hear someone say fires let’s face it Arrma have had there fair share, bodies coming off not as bad as bent chassis and shock towers ? Let’s face it you can slate it all you like but no rc is going to win everyone over and no rc is Flawless 

     

    Price wise yep will be more than the Arrma range but then again all traxxas stuff is expensive so there really should be any surprises there. 

     

    I think it looks awesome and if it performs as as good as it looks it’s a winner in my book 👍

    I'm no Arrma fan, just stating what I see. I marshalled a fairly sizable event earlier this year with some of the largest jumps going and didn't see one bent chassis. I did see allot of bodies come off though and broken arms, mainly eyelets, from all makes and models. I was sweeping the wreckage off the landing area. See the Paddlesworth videos on YouTube.

    Could we not get pulled in another "you're a hater if you don't like Traxxas, you evul Arrma fanboy" and instead focus on the actual fact that this isn't anything special to be jealous about in the first place? That's the problem here. Traxxas does indeed make desirable RCs (that's why i own one), this isn't one of them. A TRX4, X-Maxx, they all bring something to the table even if they do have their own problems - this doesn't. This is an attempt to compete with Arrmas basher series, of course it gets compared to Arrma stuff. It wouldn't make sense to compare it with Tamiya stuff. 

     

    And there's the problem: compared with Arrma stuff, the Maxx doesn't hold a candle in regards to value for money. If it were priced around £450, then you'd have an argument - at £550 (granted, that's not official, that's just what i'm assuming it'll be), it's stupid. And that doesn't even include the optional high speed gearing that people are expected to dish out extra for - and it doesn't matter if you say that you don't need it, they advertise the truck as 60mph capable. This is just screwing with people, my fricking shampoo bottle is 60mph capable if i buy the optional Arrma Infraction too.

    Pretty much it. Being a fanboy or a hater doesn't help anyone, least of all the consumer.  I will objectively state the TRX4 is excellent despite also saying Traxxas as a company is the puddle of drizzling poop.

     

    Back on topic though, if this was around the £450 mark it would probably be better value but Traxxas will be undercutting it's Rustler sales. As it is, I reckon this will dig right into the erevo 2.0 sales, as it's reputation seems to have taken a hit.

    I ain't a fanboy of any brand, I buy what suits me. I currently have Kyosho, Hobao, Traxxas, HPI and KM.

     

    I still think this is a brilliant business move from Traxxas, why waste money fixing the E-Maxx when you can copy the X-Maxx? Sure, it'll probably have all the same flaws as its bigger brother (and maybe some of its own?), but it'll still sell in spades. 

     

    Did we forget to mention the bendy centre shaft? Leaking shocks?

    Like I said already no surprises on pricing imo and why should they sell it cheap they have a big enough loyal fan base that will buy these in container loads then add all the YouTube vids etc that will show it off and folks will be tripping over themselves to buy one just like the x maxx imo 

     

    A scaled down maxx for those that can’t afford its big brother or want a smaller version for there kids or just something less bulky to carry to bash sites I think it’s a super cool move 

     

    Has all the ingredients to make the perfect little basher big fat shocks centre diff, Cush drive, nice size motor (3692) what seems like a good servo in terms of spec, interchangeable arms, easy to work on, 17mm hex wheels, big fat wheelie bar, no body clips to loose, easy battery access, easy gear meshing, Traxxas stability management and probably a ton of aftermarket support. Best of all it looks super cool dare say I missed something cool out 🤣👍

     

    Now will the esc be be any good ? Will have to wait and see fingers crossed traxxas has finally got there act together though on that score.

     

    All I see is a lot of things I like and what looks to be a lot of fun and surely FUN is what this hobby is really all about 👍

    I am a Traxxas fan and have about 10 models from them but I think the last thing they need is another Monster Truck

    they should have brought out something different.

     

    I don't have any Arrma models but am thinking about getting a Typhoon.

    Nice to see the E-Maxx finally getting a replacement that hopefully won't be prone to snapping in half. Always liked Traxxas' willingness to shrink their designs so faithfully, though amusing that this "mini" X-Maxx is the size of an Hpi Savage 😬

    Seems to me like theyve outright murdered the stampede 4x4 with this, which is good because that means theyll get cheaper for us to buy second hand ;) But for real though i agree with hamradioguy, i dont think a monster truck is going to be the crowd beater they are looking for. To be honest i was personally more excited for the 6x6 trx4 than this, but its still nice to see big names push out new kits nonetheless. Feels like they are running out of ideas though.

    All I have against traxxas is their constant attempts to lock down the hobby so wont pay them until they learn it's an open market again  one they was allowed to set up in by the big brands so why cant they support others and especially leave the 3rd party support well alone. 

     

    How is that front though I've only heard rumours on it not seen any action yet. Are traxxas trying to stop 3rd party products being installed to their models/future models. 

     

    It looks cool and is progress 4s 1/10 cool list of updates. The shocks dound awesome. 

     

    But I wont be interested I bet my slash MT would keep up with it and convert to any other platform. But mayb this will be more stable at speed if heavier. We'll see. 

     

    I regretted my slash build seeing the big xmaxx first releases £650 remember that was cool. Then they shook their heads thats when the trx fans turned haters. Or users turned on them in my case. 80% of my rcs were traxxas. Vote for change with the wallet that's one thing this forum taught.

    That's my problem too plus the aftermarket. RC cars is probably one of the few markets in the world where it's accepted that you buy a product then immediately have to spend the same again to get it to work. Traxxas has improved on this in it's 3 more recent releases but why is this tolerated by anyone? If I go to buy a washing machine, then immediately have to spend another £300 to make it work reliably, I'd be getting a refund. The same applies to almost anything else. 

     

    Aftermarket performance increasing parts are a different matter but parts just to get stuff to run is wrong. If Traxxas can finally break that stigma them great, that's a win for the consumer.

    Sadly it’s not just isolated to traxxas there are plenty of other brands out there that require tinkering. Traxxas stuff works fine out the box but what you’ll find it’s the users that push it way beyond what it was intended for then moan it’s not fit for purpose. Everything has a breaking point and whilst yes some things are a tad weak the same applies to all rc’s that I’ve come across not just Traxxas 

     

    This forum is and always has been quite anti Traxxas so it’s no surprise to see the continued onslaught of negativity and I’ll have to admit I like a fool once jumped on that band wagon until I wised up to the notion that the hobby is about fun and Traxxas make fun rc’s 

     

    Shame really it seems like the majority posting have no intentions of buying one but would rather just use the opportunity to have a dig at Traxxas in general 

     

    Oh well you guys won’t dampen my spirts I can’t wait to get mine roll on November and fingers crossed there won’t be any delays 😉👍

    It's a discussion forum, someone posts a topic then people discuss. If we only discuss stuff we absolutely intend to buy or actually own, this forum would be long dead. Be thankful we can have a grown up discussion, with constructive criticism and not have it degenerate into a slagging match with personal insults.

     

    My comment about the price is perfectly valid I also complemented Traxxas on the TRX4 and the improvements in their last three releases. Let's not turn this into the Traxxas forum where anything but glowing praise is met with a torrent if fan boy abuse eh?

     Yes fella post as you wish but if you really wanted to have a open discussion about traxxas in general why not start a dedicated thread instead of using a news post about a new product you have little or no real interest in, or intention of buying 

     

    It’s the same old saga time and time again and becomes rather boring and annoying Traxxas make a new release and it goes into a Traxxas hate thread or Traxxas ethics thread, why not just discuss the matter at hand ie The Maxx 

     

    So far the only discussions surrounding the actual truck has been minimal to say the least.
