Well, first off, thank god it’s not another jeep!

 

g-wagon is a nice change, looks like they did copy traxxas with those inner arches.

 

some really nice features on this too........

 

i take its due for release this year?

There is far to much coming out on the market for the scaling / crawling / trailing part of the hobby IMO - It's suddenly picked up now everyone is making something. The excitement of seeing something fresh on the market has gone down hill, now when you see something new it makes me think "I've seen something like that before"

Finally.  It's due this year Gaz, from the state of the model in the pics perhaps sooner than I was initially told.

This ticks so many boxes and it's a Hobao, so you know it will be tough and well supported for the next 100 years. The axles look really good for other projects as well with those out of the box clamping lockouts.

I can't blame them entirely...they all see the sales of other companies profiting from crawlers...so follow suit chasing the profits....

 

Seems the days of bold innovative companies making something different.....are gone

 

On the subject of the hobao, If you tarted up the body it would look well sweet IMO.....always had a soft spot for the G wagon though

I think it’s great, keeps the big hitters on there toes.

 

look at the vaterra ascender, promised new things and a Axial beater........ it’s demise was only beaten by its other offering, the twin hammers.

Agreed with the shell, but for that reason, it works.

 

Can't stand 'soft-roaders' / Chelsea Tractors in 1:1 - should be where they're capable of being used ... rant over.

 

Quite like this rig, and being from HoBao, should be pretty decent.

Is it normal for a slipper on a trailer/crawler ? or is it just driveline protection as it looked like a 550 can through a reduction box so I'm guess it's got some torque?

Yes, they always have them, although probably more to do with equal distribution of power. No slipper will ever be as good as a diff when it comes to protecting the drive.

Yeah I saw that the other day I also noticed there a kit version as well on Modelsport £299 

The front end - overhang, bumper etc look all wrong to me... But what do I know about trail crawlers...

Apart from having to replace all those capheads with button heads and reversing them, that looks solid. 

I did notice the axle at the front has been shifted back to,  assuming, the make for a better approach angle? 

Model sport has these arriving on the 19th.

Ive been waiting for a thread on this after seeing it in the ads on here. I think its brilliant hobao has released one. They are a great brand who build/design for the hobby not the ceo. It does shout Trx4 but that's cool for me i would definitely consider this truck but i do think after market support will be shy. Compared to axial or others. 

 

I think thunder tiger has a cool mini scale truck out too. Not sure of scale but its a lil cutie like the rc4wd 1/18 so probably 1/18. 

 

You can never have too much choice either its great the scale scene is so huge now. I thank the vattera assender for the outbreak lol. So the assender deserves a prime seat at the scale table. It also pushed axial to update the scx10. But will axial come at the trx4. With scx10 ii XL lol. 

Its only the body which is the same as the TRX4 and that's a licensed landrover anyway. In all likelyhood half the owners will put something else on it.

Interesting, I thought slippers protected the drivetrain more than centre diffs. Is that not the case?

 

Anyway, it’s a great looking car. Anyone know what speed it can reach in its high gear?
