    FTX Mighty Thunder 4WD 1/10th All-Terrain-Monster-Truck

FTX seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment!

Fusing together the latest in straight axle and multi-link suspension, FTX bring you the Mighty Thunder A.T.M.T. (All Terrain Monster Truck). Drawing inspiration from the classic stadium monster trucks that entertain huge crowds stateside, to the desert rock crawlers that tackle some of the most unforgiving terrain around, Mighty Thunder can fuel every imagination.

Recreate the thunderous destruction and power of the world’s most pop-ular super trucks, or using the optional crawler lock out set turn Mighty Thunder into a rugged off road rock crawler. Need to maneuver in a tight spot? Then convert your ride even more with the optional rear wheel steer-ing kit.

Featuring trailing link suspension and front and rear straight axles, the Mighty Thunder’s articulation allows you to power over and across most surfaces. Fully adjustable oil filled shocks can be positioned in a number of angles for further off road tuning.

A rugged truck needs a rugged drivetrain and the Thunder features univer-sal driveshafts throughout, along with metal output, crown and diff gears. Quick access to the centre gearbox and front and rear differentials mean you can implement the diff lock conversion in a matter of minutes.

So get ready for some serious monster action with the Might Thunder A.T.M.T. from FTX!

They could change that body to something, erm, presentable and completely change the appearance - as it is, it looks naff!!

Couldn't agree more on the aesthetics - for those of us that will give FTX stuff a go though that can easily be changed.  I think they've aimed these squarely at kids and Xmas - that nasty shiny chrome look and working LEDS should appeal greatly instore.

I expect John will have one on order already to give us the low down ....

Did they put the front axle on backwards?  The driveshaft angle doesn't look right at all.

There seems to be a recurring theme with ftx as of late.

cheap, nasty looking Rc. Well..... I'm out!

But it's actually a monster truck that has solid axles, so is actually a monster truck unlike 99% of the trucks on the market called monster trucks. So for that I'll at least give them a thumbs up.

I like the concept - a proper MT chassis, and it's pretty easy to pop another shell on. Is it stampede size body or bigger MT like Ruckus?

Its a hell of a lot of truck for the money, looks horrid in pics but not that bad at all in flesh. Same kinda size shell as a standard hpi savage but a bit more narrow, a lot of articulation from the shocks, prob gona limit the travel a bit as its got so much more than the ftx mauler which is a rock crawler. For the money i don't think there is anything to compare with most if not all ftx models, yeah they have there problems but you have to consider the mega value and both cheap and available spares and upgrades, thank god for FTX when most rc is just getting silly prices

Proper monster trucks have full tube chassis'

Anyone can lock a diff lol.

Never understood the whole locked diff thing with people on MTs myself, considering I don't know of a single RTR that is actually like a real one

Although I have driven a 'proper' built RC monster truck, they are such a limited market, as I am sure @.AJ. also found out when he drove his, they are fun for what they are, but I doubt they'd be a huge seller as an RTR.

    I might be wrong though.

Took it out yesterday all stock, can not remember the last time i used a nicad 7.2 but it will sure be the last time, prob ok on a 2s but needed more than a 7.2 1800 nicad. Great fun truck, much better looking than in pics and handles great and with the super low price dam good potential, shall be getting the rear steering kit when its released which is only £15 lol

The fragility is the problem. You can't do a 60mph triple backflip without breaking something.

There are many problems with it to be honest.

If you are in the states and you have a good following for MTs like they do and you can go to an event most weekends, it makes a lot more sense to custom build a £1,000 rig.

If you don't have any events to go to, you might as well buy something you can actually use for half the price.

Oddly the Trigger king league is now being dominated by an RTR with some different wheels.

I built mine simply for pleasure. I'm probably better off recycling it into a RR10 though. Still, this FTX and the MOST truck look like good little trucks and a whole lot more MT than most things called MTs.

I was interested in this until Modelsports suggested against it. They told me that it had a very poor turning circle/full lock. Has anyone else experienced it as I see no mention.
