  3. I have no idea if that mount is any good or not!! I would recommend that when you mount this too the shell that you put some small peices of plastic on inside of shell to spread the load!! Like a large washer!! Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk

  4. Yea right parts dude but £23 for 2 plastic wheels sucks!! These cost me £8 each £34 for 5!! I found with my scout centre of gravity is quite high so kept falling over!! So I added sticky backed wheel weights to counter balance it!! Which fixed problem but if had known before would have just brought metal wheels instead!! Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk

  5. Can't really see wheel properly but I'm sure if you punched maverick scout wheel into eBay it would pop up some sort of sale!! That little rig looks a lot faster than mine was!! Think it's probably got a faster motor in it!! Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk

  6. Shot a few things, nothing I can share here.... finally got out today with the above Tamron though - love the huge field of view it gives, alas having no hood I got a few shots spoilt with flares (it doesn't handle them that great) and quite a bit purple fringing. All expected shortcomings and easily surmounted. IQ is however fine - it's not the sharpest glass out there, but it's good and much cheaper than the top options. Here's my fav from today, resized for FB - original can be seen on my flickr page.

  8. On a 550 15t motor for such a low capacity, that's probably about right to be honest, it might not have been quite 100% charged but I wouldn't expect more than about 15 minutes. In comparison, to what I said in your other thread, you could get an hour from a 2200 2s. Depending on how keen she is on the throttle obviously. But you can imagine what's possible from a 5000-6000 2s Go LiPo

  10. Hi, I hope everyone in the RC community is doing well. I'm an engineering student wanting to build a RC car from scratch just to have some understanding of components and how the machinery works. I am wanting to build a Golf R32 MK4, if any car lovers in this forum will know what they are, because the car is 4 wheel drive I am wanting to keep it that way, the chassis and body are not an issue for me. I can 3D print them. I just want some help in the electrics and the components that I will require to build this project e.g. motors, ECUs, differentials, and all the electrical side of this project. As long as I get a rough idea of how everything, I will not have a problem making this project a reality. if any one could help that would be great.

  11. Blacked out windows are scale lol esp dub style the golfs suit best. What scale are you thinking standard 1/10? If its a micro size rc 3d printed chassis body mayb ok but if larger than 1/18 i dont think it would be a good idea. If you go standard 1/10 size tamiya already offer the body i think. So you can focus on the chassis. Research older rc cars the really basic ones to get familiar ish with layouts and mayb spawn ideas. Its a shame the escort mk2 all metal build thread has broken pic links now or that might have helped a ton. You can check the other build threads on here too though. Look through the Scale section.

  12. Very helpful! Interestingly the Carisma, Axial and HPI are all roughly the same price of around £180-£190 for the builders kits. The Gen2 Carisma seems to have most of the features the Axial SCX10.2 has. The Carisma also has a body included. Might get a the kit Carisma!

  13. Thought so, the whole CST to WT thing does my head in. I have 300k ctr, 50k rr & 40k fr in the Tenacity MT which works well for me. It's well planted under acceleration, oversteers with throttle on the corners but turns tight if you lift off. I'll try similar in the VS, probably 100k ctr, 30k rr & 20k fr.

  14. 8th scale motors are usually rated in KV. 8th buggy on 4s runs well with upto 2650kv, if you want more torque (not sure why) then lower KV is usually more torque. So like for like a 2000kv will have more than a 2650 but obviously is much slower like for like. The 2000kv will gear up more or run more cells at the same gearing for longer run times.

  16. Depends on how you want it to handle. You want 100k in the middle to start i would say. anything from 7-30k in front and rear. As for the shocks you could see if 500cst is any good. It says 30wt in the hyper 9 manual, but that will be more of a race setup, so for bashing you might want something a bit thicker. I would recommend reading the setup section on pages 37/38 and 43 of the xray xt8 manual. its pretty good. http://www.competitionx.com/team-xray-manuals/ Also another tip is check the motor mount its threadlocked. with it being prebuilt you never know who put it together and there is nothing more annoying than loosing a screw on the first run

  17. My first foray into making a metal cage. Using 55% silver solder, 3mm stainless steel and Johnson Mathey easy flow. I was unsure if 3mm was too thin but I've given it a right good bashing and bending and it holds up amazingly well. This took me 3 hours this evening and I'm pretty confident I'm totally hooked!! 18. To finish off my very productive week off work (in RC terms that is ?). I finished off the new shells for the Hyper's and seen as this is the first time in ages the entire fleet is one piece and looking half decent I couldn't help but take a fleet photo. When me and the boy first got into the hobby we would have looked on at a picture like this in admiration so its nice to know we actually own this fleet a couple of years on and more importantly they don't just look great but their all fantastic, reliable and most importantly fun rigs

  19. Yes i thought so too but they have decided to pull out of buying it now. Complained about paying extra for postage and original shell wasnt included. Clearly didn't bother reading description properly
