  4. Whipped out the soldering iron and did the most soldering I've done in my life. It's taken most of the morning, but the EMB's electrics install is complete! Now to charge some packs and start calibrating the ESC

  5. It took most of the morning, but electrics install is conplete!! It's tricky getting a tidy install with all that wiring I tell you! Need to charge some packs up and start calibrating, then hopefully give her her maiden run some time this afternoon!

  6. Introducing my new (to me, but already on in it third owner since September) Traxxas Summit. It's bloody massive, the previous owner has upgraded some of the suspension and I also have a brushless conversion that he never got round to fitting. Can't wait to get out and use this, any tips or advice welcome.

  7. New to me, Defender 90, 2" Lift with 32" tyres (just noticed the, spare on the rear door is different!) 13000kg winch, and raised air intake, bucket Recaro's Looks a bit big sitting next to my daily runner. Lol Its going to be a bit of a project, but as I work in a main dealer, im surrounded by lads who own the same, work on the same things day in-day-out, it needs a few quid spent on it, but should be fun! Pics were from a quick bit of laning in woods local. G

  8. Hello! Now to something completely different ;-) I was invited to spend a sunday afternoon at a local model airfield. Here's my little video of this afternoon with some RC jets, some propeller driven aircrafts and some 3D aerobatics. Please enjoy and comments are always welcome. Oh, and don't expect too much. This is my first video with RC planes, but I think it turned out ok. Greetings Nils

  10. without quoting the numerous posts above... Taping the holes on the inside of the wheel - not the best idea. The holes are there for a reason. Hit the landing of a jump hard and the tyre compresses. The foam is what provides resistance as these are not pneumatic tyres. i.e. it is not air in the tyre that provides the support but the foam. tape them up and the air can leak out through the side- i.e. blow the glue between rim and tyre. or worse tear the tyre. to all other comments - most if not all buggy tyres I have bought second hand from racers have had 4 small 2 or 2.5 mm holes equally spaced round the outside of the tyre. To do it : - use something to cut a NEAT hole in the centre line of the tyre - I use a 2.5 mm drill bit on a pillar drill or on a dremel. If I only had a hand drill I might use a leather punch - put 4 holes equally spaced round the tyre - if you are really paranoid about tyre life then put the holes in the lugs of the tyre - e.g. on a set of Trencher X monster truck tyres I put the hole through one of the treads. Plenty of lateral stiffness and strength there to stop any risk of tearing the tyre. Why does it work? without risking a physics lesson its the same principle as used by the spin cycle on a washing machine. or the same as on a merry go round. - water is thrown to the outside of the tyre and exits via the holes. I personally don't see any decent way of doing it other than holes in the outside of the tyre Q/A - will water get back in? yes... but when bashing water is CONTINUOUSLY forced out of the tyre. Every high speed run is drying out your tyres. No waiting for a warm radiator - does it risk breaking the tyre? not with a neat hole in my experience. Even less likely if you have already taped the inside of the tyre! - does it work when out bashing? yes - all the time. vs radiator when you get home. - is it quick? yes - fully saturated tyres will be ready to go after about 3-4 minutes of high speed runs. just watch the wobbles while the tyre is still fully loaded with water. - downsides? yes - possibly faster to absorb water if standing around in puddles not blasting through them. - downside 2? watch the weight of the water in the tyres when initially spinning them up. If the vehicle has been resting then all the water will be at the lowest point of the tyre. Spin it up quickly and watch the truck try and wreck your bearings and rip wheels from axles. (like an unevenly loaded washing machine on fast spin cycle). spin it up slowly and the water is pushed evenly round the tyre and out through the holes.

  19. 330820621236 Sorry, cant copy and paste for some reason. EBay item number though. I burst mine from this guy. I dont think 6 bucks for 5 pairs is too out of the way. 60p per connector seems reasonable Inc postage. It wouod cost about 1.80 to poat them so look at it at around 4 quid for the 10.

  35. There are two types of GPS on phones. Good old GPS that doesn't rely our require a cellular signal and agps. Assisted GPS, this uses the signal to speed up locating you, without a signal this will fall back to GPS and may take longer to get a signal. An internet connection isn't required for either. I used to use an old phone with no SIM in it.

  40. Needles and nozzles the simple answer is the smaller they are helps for finer detail I'm using a 0.2mm Gravity feed and it requires a lot less pressure to do the same job as the 0.35 mm one I have a good airbrush will be able to take different size needles and nozzles and some are brand specific here is what matters oh and they have to match 0.2 needle to 0.2 nozzle and so on for a challenge try looking at alclad2 paints they do a good chrome for polycarbonate/lexen and spaz stix do some good colour changing paints with an airbrush the possibilities are endless oh and buy sheets of plastic to practice on buying loads of shells can get expensive also if you mess it up have some dot 4 brake fluid ready it just wiped off the faskolor paints hell even hot water works with most. Also if your cars are nitro don't forget the nitro block it stops the paint stripping off

  44. So, just thought I'd share my new track car with you all, it a Radical Clubsport (nearer to prosport spec). I gave up racing a few years back, through age and health (also wasn't that good at it!). I love cars and I'm fortunate to have had lots of quite nice ones over the years. This is on another level in terms of performance to other cars I've had, not in outright speed, I've a V10 M5 for that, but in terms of getting round a track quick, it will take something pretty special to beat this. Its a great spec, with a 1200cc Kawasaki motor, running on flat side carbs, sounds amazing! Anyway, thats it really, hope you like the look of it?
