I had the same dilemma but I went for the Prostock. I've asked for opinions all over Facebook groups and forums and people always told me that the Prostock is bulletproof. It has enough power and it won't be harsh on your drivetrain. Others with 7hp+ engines kept telling me that these will cause my center driveshafts and outputs to wear out fast so Phatdad upgrades are a must sooner or later - they're not cheap either so keep that in mind2 points

Jim, try not to use the 'c' word, keep that old argument in the petrol section where it belongs!2 points

Started off this morning waking up far to early ,and thinking despite the weather I'm gonna try and find the 1st boot sale of this year ,so off I trotted down to my favourite which had about a quarter of what is normally there in the height of the season,to be honest I was hoping to find a New bright hobby rc to rob the body off for a project as I've seen them before but never taken much notice of them. Within the 2nd aisle I came across this and nearly left it there as I thought it was a nitro at first, but once I'd realised what it was and that the price was definitely right I popped it in a tescos carrier bag and waddled on home with my swag in hand. Closer inspection revealed a 20 yr old Tamiya FF01 in near mint condition which only required some elbow grease and some soldering to have it back on its toes,I honestly believe this car has only had 1 battery at most through it since it was built as the chassis is virtually unmarked as is the BTCC flavoured Mondeo shell....anyway she's now running like a dream and the Acoms 27mhz radio gear is performing just as it should....now I have to decide whether to shelf queen it or sell it...I don't want to run it really outside as its just to nice. Here's some poor quality piccies1 point

I had to google that to see what it looked like: My first proper rc was a Mardave Cobra electric 2wd buggy which my dad and I built together.1 point

Buggy set-up is something I need to learn, which is what I'll be using this season for, then next season I'll be taking it a bit more serious and entering al the Scottish Offroad Championship rounds1 point

I think you'll be impressed. You should see the way my Brushed Carnage goes on a 2s 2200mah pack. It's bonkers.1 point

First thing I got to ask is ..... What didn't you like about the Baja, Losi 5ive, DBXL etc. They are quite different trucks to drive, and have different looks. Is it a cosmetic thing...or is it something else? The HPI Baja comes in stadium truck ( 5T) and Short Course ( 5SC) which are all the same underneath. If you are looking for a Monster Truck kind of thing, then there is the Maverick Blackout...and the FG Monster...and that's about it. There is a Stadium version of the Maverick...and of the FG as well. I got fed up looking for a truck I liked, so ended up building my own!1 point

The whole "truck ish truggy ish" thing. You looking for something down this route? http://www.rcgeeks.co.uk/maverick-blackout-st-stadium-truck.html¤cy=GBP&language=en?gclid=CLSh9YXJzL0CFZQZtAodgjgAcQ1 point

nice work even if it doesn't look scale. the orange spit of flame would have been better. however, if you ever make a drag racer, that would look perfect on one of them.1 point

Diff out time, as you have ruled out all other moving parts in the drive train. Could be a failed bearing, could be something else entirely....get spannering, you don't have to entirely strip the back end out to remove the diff either1 point

Not just non rc kids giving hassle, was out with my lad, he was driving back from the woods with his Dingo when we saw two older teens with rc's. We wandered over to have a natter as you do when started ripping the pee out of my lad (10yrs) because his car was so slow and has a wwf figure driving it, driving round his spinning dust at it and us. I said to the lads to give it a rest and got a mouthful of abuse about getting a 'proper rc', much like their scale speed of 245mph, quickest you can get mate type of buggies.(think Argos meets Halfords type!) OK lads I said you win, we'll go. Off home we raced and were back to the park within a few minutes, if these were younger kids I wouldn't have done what we did. Out came the savvy XL on 6s and the lad had a 3 in his slash.... Coooeee boys, can we play now? Me and junior then thoroughly enjoyed ourselves toying with the muppets! Proud about it....YES!1 point

Let's face it, he's just lowered it to make it look cool and made it "RAT LOOK" can anyone see a VW badge on it?1 point

The current owner should be served with a court injunction forbidding the ownership of any rc.1 point
