This is a shame, I used RCMI a lot in the past, Cain always gave great customer service and had a good range of stock; sorry to hear things have ended like this. No need to "lol" Highlander, this blokes livelyhood is being affected2 points

Cheers for the help guys. Charged up the rx pack even though it was pretty full . Took the engine out, checked for leaks, just for reassurance really. Reset all needles and it seems to have sorted it. Thanks1 point

I have the rc power tech 5100 and have been using since Xmas. My advice is stear clear. It will only take about 1800 mah at a time (regardless of how many amps im charging at) and after that will take two or three more shots of about 500 mah, so capacity seems to be about 3500 at best. Pain in the arse having to keep topping it up and still not getting good long runs out of it. I bought it instead of an hpi 3300 mah 8.4 v battery because it should have given longer runs (no other good branded, large 8.4v bats available with the tamiya connector). That was a mistake. Called modelsport who said I should do some full charge, discharge cycles. I'll finish that at the weekend and if it still plays up it will be going back. I assume from Modelsport it should be easier to return sub par goods, rather than on eBay, so I am optimistic of getting it replaced for a product that works as described. Long story short, my experience of these batteries, not good so far, stick with a known brand if you can.1 point

id get these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Orion-Rocket-Pack-5100-Stick-Pack-Venom-/251101055040?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item3a76ca0840 mine have come to the end of there life but they still make great glow starter batterys1 point

I think that may be the reason right there. LiPo batteries have become the mainstream choice, so economies of scale allow them to be made, distributed and sold more cheaply than high-capacity NiMH batteries, which are not as popular. That's my theory at any rate!1 point

Mate that top link is one I have coming with my TA04 so when that arrives I will let you know dude1 point

The kit will probably include some sort of shock oil - though the chances are it won't be the right oil and will make the car massively over or under damped. Likewise it may well include a pinion, but its probably not the right one. It won't include diff oil because it has a ball diff so it comes with a special diff grease. Use that and only that grease on the diff and nowhere else!1 point

Hi all, just ordered the Team C Jekyll kit from MS and I am happy to see this thread. It will be my first kit, all I have had in the past was RTRs so I am a little worried. I hope I will manage to put it in one working piece First of all, will the kit include the shock oil and diff oil in the box? And 2nd, what pinion gear should I go for considering I will be using the 9T Ez-run brushless motor?? I am back into RC after 2 years so I am a little noob here.1 point

Losi 8ight is definately a good choice vrs the Kyosho, Just make sure you shim the differentials Ring/Pinion and internals as best you can, And you shouldn't have any issue with them like is sometimes reported. Losi Diffs can be a bit on the pricey side to put right, so its best to get em right the first time. Ounce of prevention vrs a pound of cure and all that :-)1 point

I agree with virtually everything Nitro and Hebby have said, they are far more eloquent and detailed in their responses than I am!1 point

I think it has a lot to do with expectations and the use you intend to put the car to. I have owned an Evo3 and the build quality was excellent, the handling superb, and it was great to drive. Did need a certain amount of owner input to keep it sweet. Wasn't what I would call a hardcore basher though...and the price of breakages was high. The Blackout is in a different league in terms of build quality, and there is bit of work needed to sort out the shortcuts the makers have made to keep prices low. The V2 Blackout seems to be better than the V1, as they have done the work before you buy it. It's a monster truck....so I wouldn't expect it to handle. It's biggr and heavier, the shell is made from glass and the motor is a bit of a turkey in terms of build quality. All these things can be sorted....but cost money. If you have the parts, skill and the will to do it...then I think the Blackout can become a decent truck. Horses for courses really .... and as far as proper Monster trucks go, the largescale market is very short of them as I have pointed out before. You can only go so far with a buggy and some big wheels.1 point

I've no interest in these buggys but I've really enjoyed reading this. I'd like to say a big thanks to XV Pilot for the great advise he gives. This forum really benifits from having him as a member1 point

just a note on the s50, the manual says the LSN (low speed needle) is the bigger siver one on the carb when in fact its the smaller black one in the slider thing with the rubber boot round, the other bigger silver one is the middle speed.... leave that for now.1 point

I use Sanyo Eneloop batteries. they are rechargable and IMO the best rechargable battries on the market. 2000Mah with minimal loss of power over a year(less than 10%) i have a DX3S so they don't even get removed from the transmitter to charge! Also they have only been charged one since June !1 point

Nice day up here as well, going to get the kids and the missus out to the woods for a bash and a bit walk about. Need a bit fresh air to clear my poorly head. Then I might have to clean the kitchen as it looks like we've had dirty squatters in there for a month.1 point

I had a zr30 before the zr32, the 32 revs just has high but has more low end and mid range torque, there's absolutely no reason to chose the 30 over the 32. BTW I have a 3-speed in my savvy too, it works nicely with the 321 point

you may pay a bit more for the iron but it shows in the finish and quallity this should be perfect http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5d34130bfa and use good quallity solder with a content of LEAD SOLDER WIRE REEL 60/40, 2% FLUX CORE dont go for the lead free stuff1 point
-
I use a Weller 40 watt iron with a "hard tip" and it solders Deans and pretty much everything else I attempt with it. I also have an 80 watt iron, but that rarely gets used. And a 12volt 50 watt Wasp iron that is over 20 years old, and that works a treat if soldering is needed when out and about. With soldering irons go for a quality make every time.1 point

i have to be honest i'm slightly disgusted at some of the attitudes on here, these are your children it shouldn't be down to the CSA to force you to pay money for them. granted i don't agree with the CSA as it makes no sense. my dad is heavily disabled however he offered my mum x amount each week (even though he couldn't work) she went to the CSA and they actually reduced his payments. but even though my dad is unable to work if i (as his son) have ever needed (not wanted) anything he has made sure i get it because that is what a parent is for. so saying things like they're 16 and have a part time job and so i shouldn't have to provide for them is disgusting. if you can't afford kids wrap it up. simples. don't moan because you are forced to pay.1 point

The virus 3.0 is new, so not many have got it yet, and the hyper's speed all depends on the engine (.21 or .28) and what you define as "speed". Which hyper 7 are you talking about?1 point
