  1. Something to think about is are you used to 2WD or 4WD, if your used to 4WD a rear wheel drive buggy/truck can be a bit of a handful to handle on low grip surfaces, but can be fine on grass and other hi grip surfaces. 2WD can give you more 'fun' but if your used to the ability's of 4WD there is quite some difference. It all depends on what you want from a large scale car. The real budget cars (smarttec, Nitrotec) you see on ebay and alike are not that great, they will do a job and look the part, but if you try and push them beyond their limits they will easily let you down. The next price range up (FTX, Mavrick, FG)will take more of a bashing, and give you much more for your money, as they are built to be stronger cars. Then you move up to the higher price range of cars (HPI, MCD, Hormann, Elcon) these are built to take more abuse before failing, hence they do cost more to buy and maybe repair. but they will last longer, and give you good service. The Mavrick range is a rebadged HSP, which are sold as Redcat in most other countries around the world. Not bad cars, but a lot of the components are pushed to their limit on such a big truck as the Blackout, which is why they do have a bit of a reputation of breaking easily, but many people have them and have no real trouble with them. The MCD's still has problems with their diffs, even on the V4, if they are pushed hard on rough ground, they have tendency to fail. A bit of food for though? But buying a good used car, may be better than a middling new car, to give you your first taste of the large scale world.

  2. its all down to centrifugal force. as the tire spins it gets pushed outwards and makes the tire "balloon" the new traxxas xo-1 has metal belts in the tires to stop this happening, duct tape on the inside of the tires also sounds like a good alternative. as far as I know, manufacturers do not make the tires to do this. if you check out my youtube channel and subscribe i am going to look into this and make a video showing how to prevent tire balloning. http://www.youtube.com/user/ExtremeNitroRacing?feature=mhee hope this cleared a few things up for you

  3. Cheers rich, you can be sure i'll be leaving that needle well alone till i level up considerably Think im actually getting somewhere! Idles ok and can get it moving with lots coming out of the exhaust. With an unresponsive throttle it oftens stalls try to accelerate, if i get through the bog it picks up pretty quickly. Currently i think im too rich on the hsn and too lean on the lsn Ran out of fuel now though so will have to get my order in with MS..

  10. I'm considering redoing my CC01 and fitting it with a Landy body, but I'm not sure which body to go for. Is there any difference between the Hong Kong ones on eBay and the RC4WD one? They both seem to be about the same price, although I'm not sure how much shipping is from RC4WD. Was just looking for links to post here, and the eBay ones seem to have gone! Do you think they will be relisted soon? Here's the RC4WD one anyway: http://store.rc4wd.com/110-Land-Rover-Defender-D90-Hard-Plastic-Body-Kit_p_18.html

  12. the 3.0 is a nice engine, if your after somthing bigger then there is some bad news. anything bigger tend to end up needing a new engine mount as you next step is a bigblock engine (3.5cc or larger) you may be able to get somthing in the middle but i don't know of one. in honesty i tihnk you need to look into something different such as a good tuned pipe to wake the engine you have up. rather than post somthing like that why don't you actualy try helping the guy out with his question, isn't for telling him to get somthing he may not have the money for.
