  1. Cheers guys. helpful stuff indeed Not sure i understand the 3 ratings though. I know what a spur gear is. is the pinion my clutch bell so to speak? And the motor refers to internals of the motor? Gears...
  2. Lipo scare me! Can i just check what the traxxas esc everyone seems to goe for and what motor is recommended? Thanks in advance
  3. But i swore myself to nitro! What am i doing!! Going to need separate sheds so my engines dont smell the motor!! Dingo kit will be mine come august and then i'll mither everyone to death about what motors etc and do i really need lipo.. But yeh, these scale rigs look very addictive as it feeds my bench side of the hobby nicely..
  4. cheers guys, and here's me thinking I needed a Honcho!! OK so Dingo it is and be prepared to chop shop it.. Trust me Gaz, it's all your fault I want to start my own project in the first place !!! awesome defender and equally awesome hi-lux.. and there's no doubt you'll be hearing from me once I get going
  5. Hi All Hopefully someone can help before my head explodes I've read as much as I can take and keep getting distracted by some awesome pics! After seeing some very impressive scale rigs the bug has bitten me and I'm planning a defender build of my own. Even though they are evil electric v8 conversion project can wait for another day.. My only concerns are which SCX10 would be more suited due to the differing wheelbases, is it possible to do with both these models ? pretty sure most of the builds I'm seeing are Honchos but this is the older model ? the Dingo newer ? is one of these good to go from the off or is there lengthening, shortening mods to consider for a defender 90. hope someone can clear this up for me Cheers!
  6. Small update, front end done, just need to sort camber and toe. Could have sworn those rods were the same lengths before fitting... Not looking too shabby for a 20 year old truck
  7. hi all Just thought i would share my recent project, restoring the much loved (or hated) nitro hawk I bought this off a popular auction site and it was a bargain! Its my second hawk, the first being the one with black plastics which kindly breaks if i so much as look at it! This is the advert which as soon as i saw those white plastics, it had to be mine sigh... I completely stripped it and tried to keep some order, that didnt last long though... Prepped for the hydrogen peroxide trick to bring the plastics back which went ok, but not as well as i hoped, typical lack of sun summer we're having... Everything got stripped and the gears etc were in pretty good nick.. LOTS of cleaning including removing the anodise from the chassis and polishing it up and this is where im at so far I have a trx 15 pro ready to drop along with a 360 stinger that ive managed to find in the states. Ive borrowed the shock tower from my other hawk while i wait for the other one to arrive as the pipe goes straight through. I do like a project and this will be nothing more than a budget shelf b1tch, will update as i go Thanks for looking
  8. Resto build ticking along nicely. Stripped the anodise on a nitro hawk chassis with oven pride, cleaned and polished it to a shiny shine. Continued with restoring all the yellowed plastic with hydrogen peroxide. Could really do with some sun!
  9. Still hunting. although modelsport have this listed traxxas have told me its disco..
  10. Brilliant. If thats the case i have some spare parts in "excellent" condition too
  11. 38 and slowly losing count
