  2. I really don't know what is coming to the world these days all I see every where is people being stopped from enjoying their selves by arrogant bullies who think they have the devine right to claim ownership of public land and use violence towards them or damage their property. I think this world is long overdue a clearout of the people who harm others with no good reason other than their own personal ignorance and selfish attitudes.

  3. dogs are the worst. had some huge ass one go for my 1717 motor'ed Hyper 7 about 3 months ago when at college (when it was closed). owner came up to me and said "i should get one for the dog". i told him i'm not responsible if the dog runs in front of the car and gets hurt (was off its leash), which it did about a minute later, and wimpered away after a 9kilo hyper hooned into it doing >50mph. the dogs owner called the police on me, they arrived, told me to leave. I showed the owner and the police the big blue sign at the entrance of the college that states in plain english that dogs should be on a leash, and that no motor vehicles are permitted on the grass. my hyper is electric, and the turnigy onboard camera that was on the car for the whole bash would have proven that the dog was off it's leash. the police told me to carry about my business, and proceeded to fine the man for wasting police time and letting the dog off it's leash! KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. electric rc's are not motor vehicles, nor are petrols or nitros. a vehicle is a device used to transport things . your rc, like it or not, is a toy. electric rc's are not a disturbance anywhere, and if the property is public then you have just as much right to be there as anybody else.

  4. not technically true, it only does 60 until you plug in a apple doo-dah to "unlock" it to be able to do 100mph, usually on its roof before it get to 100 though

  5. Putting fuel tube inside reduces suspension travel, shortens the overall length and reduces ground clearance. Shock limiter cables are there to prevent over-extension in a crash and are a much better solution. Fuel tube is a bodge that comes at the expense of handling issues if you put too much in....and isn't effective if you use too little. Shock limiting cables can be set up to the exact point where your shock is at it's natural at rest position with the car under load from it's own weight. The problem with shaft bending is when the car rolls and the shock shafts are pulled out to the maximum and stressed.

  8. The main difference between the sport and the competition is that the comp has hex drive transmission (ie diff output cups hex shaped) the sport is non hexed but uses 2 grub screws instead on the output cups. The comp has steel gears, alloy shocks and the front drive shafts are cvd. The sport has plastic shocks and plastic gears mixed with alloy. Non cvd from driveshafts Ive still got a few of the earlier comp evo3 rally cars which I still use from time to time. They have been solid and ultra reliable, its only if you crash it, that's when it can hurt your pocket otherwise they are great fun and easy to drive, on or light off road use. The x4 is a complete new design with better stronger plastic, the weak link would be the plastic gears hence better going for the comp version. Plus it helps with regular maintenance to avoid big cost if a bearing decides to go. Tyres are the next thing that dont last long especially onroad (tarmac) To convert the v4 to x4 needs alot of parts, wishbone upper and lower, shorter shocks, wheels and tyres, bumpers, driveshafts, bodysupports and shell. Here is an old video of me and a friend just messing with the evo3 rallys. Ticky

  10. OK thought i'd bring this thread back up to date, haven't really done much to the car as it hasn't been used for a good few weeks with all this crap weather But following on from what was suggested in Tings thread http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/98817-the-adventures-of-ting-tings-e-revo/page__st__1545 i've changed the gearing to Mod 1 Already had a few Mod 1 pinions as they are used on my vorza so got a 40t spur from a nitro revo, all installed fine but the only problem i can see maybe the gearing as i've fitted a 20t pinion and the motor is almost against the hold down clamp for the ESC, if i wanted to fit a 19t pinion or even a 18t then i'm gonna have to mod the clamp so the motor can move over more Will be trying this gearing (was using 54/24 before with no problems) when i get a chance but will be checking the temps very closely and see how it goes, i'm not running big diameter tyres so it maybe OK but will be keeping a close eye on the temps

  14. your mesh looks ok to me aswell, to be totaly honist its easy to mesh the pinion/spur, the trickyer part can be geting the layshaty pinion and diff gear mesh right coz of the way the engine mounts with the bolts bellow. once you have had the engine out a few times and have got to know your car you will know by the feel when you spin the spur with your fingers with the rear wheels off the floor, but i still do the paper test to make sure. here is a base set up guide you may find usefull from a fg only fourm Front Toe out between 5mm & 8mm 17mm square drive blocks with these axles http://rc-car-online-shop.de/shop/en/pr ... 1pce-.html for maximum width 3000wt oil in the shocks Rear Toe in 3 degrees Camber 3 degrees pushed down 2000wt oil in the shocks For anti squat put 2 washers between the chassis and the forward lower ball joint. 14mm square drive blocks for maximum width. keep the chassis level by altering the ride height on the shockers with the adjuster screws or clips. The rear wishbone should be level with the bench at rest. Droop. Sit the car on a box or stand so all 4 wheels are off the bench and all the suspention is free to move. Mount the shockers on the lower mount only. Adjust the front droop screw so that the shock JUST slides on the top mounting bolt with little or no compression. The rears can be done like this but more likely will have to be done so the angle isn't so servere that the drive shafts bind up.

  16. Terrapins are great, just make sure they have the correct uv light for their shell development and a good dry basking spot ie floating cork or a high rock, they love sunbathing with their legs in the air and eyes closed. A good filter is paramount as they produce alot of waste and it stinks , this also helps keep parasites at bay. Also you need remember that they can be natural carriers of salmonella which is nothing to worry about as long as you adhere to strict hygiene when handling them and wear gloves if you have any cuts or grazes. Make sure you buy him/her a pal though as they get lonely on there own and will spend a lot of time being grumpy and will be hard to handle.

  21. It's not a problem with the battle switch, it's just that your radio is not 100% compatible. You've still got all bases covered though providing your fail safe kicks in when out of range.

  23. There is no reason at all not to put the old bevel gear on the ally diff case. The mounts are identical and you can run it that way. Sure..the BP diffs are better, but it's only the external ring and pinion gears that are different. The case in internals are the same. As far as the SHD driveshafts go, it depends where the diff came from. The old Savage Flux/XL bulletproof diffs DO use SHD driveshafts. These have thicker shafts and larger heads, so stock driveshafts are not a good fit. They will drive it....but the balls will rattle around in teh cups and the pins will wear double quick. If it came from the later X, then the cups will take the normal driveshafts no problem. Test your driveshafts in teh cups on the diff. They should be a reasonably snug fit. If you can move them about a lot... Getting the diffs right on a Savage is essential, as it's one area where a Savage needs to be strong, and is also the one area which gives the most grief when you start running them hard.

  24. Reminds me of when I used to collect Matchbox cars. The range were normally very detailed cars, replicas and realistic. And then they did ''My First Matchbox'' range, with the same cars in loud bright colours.

  25. Never had too many issues, the odd kid will try to show off to his mates by saying "yeah, that's really mature, playing with your toy car", ironically he was about 12 and riding his bike in the skate park! Most people are interested, especially when they realise the car that just shot past them at 40+ mph is actually electric. I'm amazed by how many fit young ladies actually like the cars too! Haven't scored a date yet though. Our group always avoid dogs, we bring the cars in until they've passed by (don't we lui?). Some like their dogs to be given the exercise, but I still prefer to let them pass us by. Kids asking for "a go"? Er, no, you can't. They see a fun toy, we all see hundreds of pounds of investment that we don't want wrapped around a tree. I've not yet had a parent give me grief for not letting their kid have a go, but that's probably only a matter of time.

  26. Oh no yeah I get that but it still looks really thin even for a racer. I think it's because it's flat and there is no 3D structure to it.

  27. Can't say I have seen many posters here who have them, although there is a few topics on the petrol/1:5th board asking about them. They do have a bit of the "cheap Chinese clone" stigma to them, mainly due cheap brittle plastics, lack of spares and zero upgrades. However it is fantastic that there is someone now addressing this issue. Your parts look like an essential piece of kit for these RCs and could help the cars stand out in the crowd for the right reasons

  29. Here's my new shell that I completed last night. Please let me know what you think, good or bad as this was my first attempt at liquid masking. I wanted to keep the design simple but effective as did'n't want to ruin it before bashing the hell out of it.

  32. put it like this, i've heard the preachings from the media to ex-police drug squaddies to scientific analysis. and my view is what i said above. i understand it may sound like i have made an ignorant decision, but i havent. you hear different things from different people, for example about weed i've heard everything from 'its safer than crossing the street' to 'it causes permanent irreversible brain damage'. the simple answer is not to bother with them. as for alchohol, i do agree with you, alchohol and tobacco are very dangerous and i'm amazed theyre both still legal at all. the only reason i can think of for booze still being legal is because it has been around for so long. if it was a new drug it'd be illegalised in a snap. unhealthy foods and caffiene arent dangerous, its our evolution thats dangerous. our society has developed to the stage where we can have these things without any effort but our bodies havent evolved to take it. its why sugar tastes sweet and spinach doesnt. i could go on, but i would just be boring people and an obituary thread isnt the place. just please god never ever use the phrase 'dont mean to cause offence' again. people who say that just think its an excuse to get out of offending people, its easier just not to do it in the first place.
