Was it a tree that was lurking nearby by any chance?

My missus got me some tyres for Christmas, and when they arrived i looked at them as they look massive so i tried them on without her knowing :D and they fit but are really wide and rub on the inside when turning catch on the suspension arm if i remember correctly.

Could i fit some wheel spacers, extenders or wheel wideners to fix the problem of the wheels rubbing.

Thats the wheels

This is what they are compared to stock one's

With wider truck tires like those it's best to have a 1/2 inch offset wheel. If you look at the specs on those ones it says "offset 0". Any wheel adapter/widener that is 12mm or above should work fine. I use the Proline Shockwaves on 1/2 offset Desperado wheels with no problem.

I only use them on loose surfaces like gravel and dry dirt tho. I find them on the heavy side for grass, they rapid heat the motor and eat the battery.

Hi Guys ive been a mad truggy enthusiast for about 4 years now and have done quite a few custom upgrades so thought id share a few pics: We were also lucky enough through my ramp building company to review the new Savage x 4.6 where we jumped a road gap which got the centre spread in RRci magazine. The jump was tested and fully motorwhipped with my truggy before sending the fresh out the box savage over the 40 odd foot gap hahaha which it backflipped

Upgrades are

O.S max 30 vg engine

17mm hex

graphite parts

metal wishbones

better steering servo (cant remember which)

Fuel filter

Diff oil and harder shock oil

various bodyshells

monster truck wheels

Ahhhh if the forum would let me up load more pics and not limit to 1.0mb i could put the whole sequences up, I dont know if the upload limit is because im new to the forum or its a daily upload limit, Ill try and upload some more pics. Amazingly we received no damage to the either the savage or the my truggy doing this jump, Lots of speed and a downhill landing meant any tumbles after landing werent serious. Amazing bits of kit. Its like anything tho its not usually the crashing that does the damage its the sudden stop. No joy on uploading anymore pics im being told i can only upload 0.09mb now???? Why is this?

There seems to be a limit when you upload/drag pics DIRECT to the site from your computer. You can upload as many as you like from a third party host site like photobucket, just link the url .jpg address using the "insert other media" tab.

Right this is working sorry for the wasted posts, hopefully youll like the pics, Also included an old pic of my beetle body shell which does fit the truggy with some small body post mods, For the truck body i have used the GT Gigante which is for the savage xl as the wheel base is similair and firts with no mods except the spoiler removal.

IMG_8243.JPGRight ill try this

As the sequence i uploaded is really small ill upload it in full as i dont get bored of seeing it haha, The motor whip effect im not gonna lie happened by mistake the first time after a squirly line in to the take off which resulted in what i thought was going to be a disaster of a jump but with counter steering it does pull its self right just like on a mx bike in real life, Prefer doing them now to backflips haha_ABC7110.JPG_ABC7112.JPG_ABC7113.JPG_ABC7114.JPG_ABC7115.JPG_ABC7117.JPG_ABC7119.JPG_ABC7120.JPG_ABC7121.JPG

When it comes to wideners. I recall someone using wide hexes from a Kyosho like the mp7, st-rr etc may need the hole drilling to a 3mm. I know Mugen MBX hexes don't fit right (they leave a gap between hex and bearing you could shim the gap or the inner hub bearing).

However, It seems the Losi 8ight 3.0 hexes are a perfect fit so anything that fits the 8ight 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0 Buggy and Truggy will sort you out. I have just test fittted some standard hexes so I am very confident on these fitting:

Also. The HPI hex nuts are a perfect fit on the Losi hex hubs. Just remembered to check in case you don't get any with the extenders :)

Does anyone know what these suspension arms are? They're on a trophy

$_57-3.JPG

Well they ent Trophy.

Could do with a wheel off to see the hub carrier and is that a metal spacer on the hinge pin between the lower front arm and hinge pin plate to compensate for a shorter arm width at the hinge pin?

I can't really find anything that looks exact however if you want to stick with the hub carrier type that is on there (pillowball I expect) then I would punt for trying Mugen MBX front arms. Might need a bit more spacing on the pins.

Well.. I guess i can count myself to this group now too.

Ordered a nitro trophy 4.6, which hopefully arrives yesterday. Just wondering: is the steering servo really as bad as it sounds if you watch reviews? It's my first offroader, my first truggy, and on top my first nitro - so i'm not going anywhere fast yet anyway, and not much more than asphalt/gravel and grass, since there's nowhere to go down here really (south wales :( ).

I should be fine for the first couple of weeks of light driving (+breaking in) with stock stuff, shouldn't i?

Cheers.

I think it's hit and miss on the servos but the 4.6 should be fine for a bit. I reckon the extra weight on the Flux version (battery) makes them more prone to early failure.

Also depends on wheels/tyres used and type of surface ran on. Bigger wheels and or loamier/boggier ground = bigger steering servo. Me personally I would put the steering servo on the brakes and get a 12kg+ on the steering.

Wouldn't worry too much about it in stock form :)

Yeah, wheels will stay stock for now (although proline badlands might be an option, according to the interwebs, but need to read up on many things), and no mud yet.

In warmer/dryer weather, dunes will be an option. But until then, it's really just parking lots.

edit: diff oils and shock oils, i was considering 7k-10k-3k for the diffs, 35wt for shocks - that sound okay, or would you guys recommend otherwise for the nitro? The 35wt shocks mainly because i have 35wt flying around due to my drifter, was just thinking that it might be better than the stock stuff - ideally, i'd go with 50ish.

I'd say you'll be fine for now then. Badlands should be great on grass/dirt/sand.

You will destroy the stock wheels on tarmac very quick.

For tarmac ie car parks the Road rage sound good but may be a bit on the heavy side (I haven't tried them yet). Don't bother with Hpi Phaltlines, they have no grip and wear rapidly due to constantly wheel spinning. I am leaning towards the Absima ones next time.

Nah, i don't plan on purely driving in car parks or tarmac, it's just that the weather is really bad at the moment, and there's nowhere else to drive here really. The next RC track is roughly 1,5 hours away in Gwent, i don't want to go near the beach because salt water, the grassplane that i wanna drive on is looking like a jungle at the moment, have to wait until it gets cut, etc etc.

So it's pretty much just doodling around in the garage lot until the weather brightens up. I'm just too impatient to wait until then. :D

Couple of questions though, i have yet to find information on how to "end" a day of bashing. Do you guys run the engine until the fuel is gone through all the way and it cuts out, or do you wait until there's just some drops left, and get them out by hand (since i never owned or played with nitro, no idea - but since it's the lubricant, i assume running the engine dry could hurt it?)?

And especially for the trophy, since it's "waterproof" - can i just take the body and airfilter off and hose it down, or would i still need to remove electrics etc?
