How to make Body pin Handles

Recommended Posts

everyone has in some time in rc has lost body pins. and also found how hard they can be to remove in cold weather, so here is my small guide in how we stop this problem.

you will need (picture included)

4 body pins

4 small zip-cable ties

nitro fuel tube (hi viz colors)

i like to use strong color tube, this is easy to see in grass and dirt better than just a body pin and also helps us remove them.

first of take your nitro tube and cut this into four small lengths each about three quarters of an inch. and thread these onto your cable ties. (shown below)

now take one of these cable ties and thread the cable tie through the body clip, you will then start to thread the cable tie back through the fuel tube as show below.

keep theading the cable tie back through the fuel tube and pull all the way, this will trap the body clip and form the handle as shown below

next we thread the cable tie to close it off see below

do the same above three more times and you have your body pin handles fitted and ready to go as shown here.

finnished , now you wont find it hard to find lost body pins and this will also be easy to remove in the colder weather us british have. this method also works for internal chassis pins and on larger scale.

hope this helped you out

Another helpful tip for bodypins is most of them lie flat against your shell.... this is far from ideal.

With 2 pairs of strong pliers, hold the body pin with one of the pliers just after the part where it goes though the body post when fully on the car.

With this in mind, you should have a little stub of roundish looking body pin remaining. this part can be bent 45 degrees upwards with the other pliers.... and voila!

You now have a bodyshell pin which is easier to grasp.... :)

yes, true although that method is easier for off road cars where the shock towers are external to the car.

With on road its a little harder to do your way. I also use the very long body pins for on road as although they cannot be kept on the shock towers, are not so easy to loose... :)
