  1. Probably. I posted that thats what one of my model shops advised me. I dont know how valid that is, but CML or Offna definitely recommend odonnels, and byron is similar in composition i believe.
  2. Yup, I started out with 20% tornado for my hyper .21, and it was not nice. Switched to byron race 25% and its a world of difference. It holds a tune better, goes faster, is more responsive, and it runs cooler.
  3. I hear the Go engines are good for the money. Not tried one myself though http://www.jespares.com/radio-controlled-m...23-engines.html
  4. I have lived both stateside and here. I wholeheartedly cherish the NHS. To go down a private healthcare route would make no difference to alot of people, but the poor and less privileged will suffer. We need to take care of everyone, and the NHS is the best way of doing that. I am not so confident that it is being run effectively, and efficiently. There are plenty of savings to be made to the admin side of the NHS. Red tape costs a fortune. As for the emergency services, i have a mate that works for the police as a civy. They have a building where they take calls 99 calls. It was specially built for them 5-10 years ago at a huge cost. 3 years in and the roof stared leaking. No probs cos the construction co will fix it under warranty, well they would have done if they had paid all the bills that they incurred in building the thing and hadnt gone bust 6 months after completion. This building has had a temporary roof (scaffolding) installed for over 2 years, while they figure out what to do. Not only does it involve fixing the existing roof (which needs completely removing) it involves moving the entire "999" infrastructure to another building while work is done. So thats scaff rental for the time they took to decide, moving costts, infrastructure (masses of Tech there) costs, extra travel allowance costs (as the staff will be traveling an extra 15 miles or something) at 45p per mile. It runs into millions of pounds of wasted money, and thats just one instance local to me. It must happen nation wide. Interesting discussion this, don't balls it up with racism folks.
  5. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7137088.stm http://www.roadtransport.com/Articles/2007...at-weekend.html http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=1798952007 Etc etc..... It still remains to be seen how organised these people are, but better to be prepared, and not need to be, than not be prepared and need to go somewhere in an emergency.
  6. Not beer! Leave beer alone (I can think of plenty of ways for the country to save money. Bloody organise the NHS, emergency services etc to be run efficiently rather than wasting money in red tape and trying to maintain next years budgets by spending for the sake of meeting targets). Seriously, they should scrap road tax, and add it all to fuel. The current road tax system doesnt take into account usage. I have 2 cars. If they had the same sized engine (they dont, one is in the cheap bracket being a 1l) i would pay the same road tax on both of them. One does 8000 miles a year roughly, the other does about 1500. How is that fair? Either that or monitor everyone's mileage every MOT (even for cars younger than 3) and get a bill based on last years usage. Scrap that, add it to fuel duty, and you also are taking 4*4s more effectively without pissing off the panda 4*4 diesel owners. Spin doctors can then also jump on the "green policy" bandwagons some more.
  7. Not to slag off that bundle, but i wouldnt use and ECS board if they were free. They did actually make a couple of decent ones a year or so back, but they were never incredibly stable, which is what i look for in a board.
  8. TBH, with that much money, you're better off waiting. To make it worthwhile, you would need a new motherboard, CPU, and ram. The 754 use an AGP slot for your graphics card so that would need replacing (to PCI express) and then you might need a new PSU too. Sorry. You could probably do a worthwhile upgrade for 4-500 quid. If your absolutely set on upgrading this rig, get a 754 mobile CPU, some decent RAM, and a nice PSU and overclock. You may be able to get that for your budget.
  9. http://hyper.cheebs.co.uk Full build manual with exploded diagrams.
  10. Thats the international number, just remove the 44 and replace with a 0 : 01325 335303
  11. Blimey! Have you got any links to support this? I have never done it that regularly, but the inside face of my tube style filter, always looks clean still. Am i just lucky? Also, since you plagiarised the pictures and some information from the HPI guide, maybe you should credit them (and any other references) in a footnote.
  12. Not that easy tbh. I have broken one, but it was a huge WOT runaway crash when my RX batt disconnected itself. The Hyper is strong stock...
  13. No, it wont turn freely. You will feel it get tight as the piston gets to TDC (Top Dead Center). Its always a good idea to leave the engine at BDC (Bottom Dead Center) when not in use and when its cooling down. This helps prevent the piston from damaging the liner as the liner shrinks as it gets cold. I like ot put a visible mark on the flywheel with a permenant marker (CD pens work well and last for ages). Remove the glow plug, peer down into the chamber, and turn the flywheel. It will turn much easier with the glowplug removed. You will be able to see the piston get to BDC. When it does, lift the car up and mark the bottom of the flywheel (on both sides) where you can see it through the hole in the chassis. Then when you have finished for the day, just peer through the hole and turn the flywheel until you can see the mark.
  14. Fair enough i spose, but you have no taste
  15. Why would I want to do that? Seriously there are plenty of Mac modders out there... your comment was about the enjoyment level. Now the modders obviously enjoy it, otherwise they wouldnt do it. So do you think that machine is impressive? Or not because its a PC?
  16. hehe! I'm still biting my tongue :-p ..... VMWare still rocks though. Also, doom is so right. If you want to see a proper mod, then take a look at this photo... Better still, look at the pictures on this page, post number 1168 onwards, The owner has no intention of overclocking whatsoever. It has some impressive hardware, and a watercooling loop which would lead you to believe that it was going to be overclocked, but thats not the only reason to watercool. Aesthetics and noise are large plus points to it too. If you can faithfully say that you would only get 20 mins enjoyment from sitting next to a machine like that then thats fair enough, each to thier own, but you have to admire the workmanship.
  17. rofl! Hey, i know which i prefer too.. , but i'm a gamer ;-) (not to mention a Windows network admin and PC OEM)
  18. ^^ LOL! Didint you know Geek is the new chic. As a pro Geek, there is no Mac vs PC argument TBH, you buy the best tool for the job you want to do. You dont use a screwdriver to knock in a nail.... your missus might but thats a whole 'nother story. BTW, VMWare does rock... I'm sure there is a freeware one that runs on 'nix systems (although the name escapes me), you might be able to find one for OSX too.
  19. To be fair though. if you leave it as it is, it would be much cheaper to print.
  20. Absolutely, and you dont have a HUGE initial outlay to buy a robot, then there is the programming for each task it has to do etc. etc. I'm sure the volumes are no way near big enough to make it viable.
  21. The dynamite linkage is great, it does make life easier thats for sure. You can do it with the stock linckage though, what is the problem exactly? BTW this pic might help
  22. It would be great to see a stretch panda shell on this thing like the top gear one I think the turning circle might be similar too hehe
  23. Thats what one of the LHS near me told me. I had been running 20% tornado, and even though they sold it, they advised me not to use it. Bought some 25% byrons and it was in a different league with regards to holding a tune, and running temps, and of course power, but then you'd expect that with a higher percentage of nitro. I dont know how true that ism its just what they had said. They also said that tornado can leave a dark orangy brown deposit inside the engine which is a tell tale sign if an engine gets sent back. Again, i cant confirm form personal experiance. My engine has had much more byrons through it than it ever had tornado thorugh it and its pretty clean inside.
  24. Tornado is terrible in my hyper .21. Wont hold a tune and runs hot. Apparently Offna say that the warranty is void if you use tornado. Byron Race for me, but odonnels is very similar in composition.
  25. ^^ With decent cells, its OK on the grass. Could do with more ground clearance tbh though. The Blaze jumps beautifully though.
