Which 780kv motor should I use?

Recommended Posts

'ey up...🙂

I have a pair of 780kv motors on the bench to choose for my 1/5 scale HPI Baja 5B, Can anyone advise if one is any better than the other?

They are;
Leopard LBP5892/V-2.5Y

  • Winding: 2.5 Wye (I think?)
  • Internal resistance: 0.0088 ohm
  • Max Current 120A
  • Max power 6000W
  • Weight: 1020g

Toro Beast X528 2Y

  • Winding: 2 Wye
  • internal resistance: 0.0061 ohm
  • Max current: 193A
  • Max power: 7350W
  • Weight 1581g

I think they're probably pretty close to be honest...  the Toro may have the edge due to it's lower internal resistance and higher current capacity? although it comes with a weight penalty. I'm not sure how and if the 2.5Y vs 2Y windings plays into it....
