FTX Zorro - Issues and Problems

Hi All,

 

Can anyone help with this question, the new FTX Zorro comes with the Servo listed below at Modelsport..

The first run with this car and the ESC failed., sent it away and it was replaced.

 

2 nd run, the servo failed or should i say the servo mechanics, after stripping it out the plastic steering servo horn has de-threaded itself meaning the teeth on the actual servo is not grabbing and therefore spinning leaving me with no steering, the second issue was the screw that holds the horn in place must have come loose and disappeared, this may be the cause of the horn stripping so easily.

 

I am looking at buying another horn, made from metal instead of plastic, the question i have is how many teeth does the one above from model sport have? I have checked the manual and the spares online and nothing tells the this!! Surely this is important information?

 

My instinct tells me 25T but then I read you can also buy 21T Horn?

P.S The spare Zorro shells they sell are useless too, they break very easily....

All ftx shells are like glass, fiber tape the crap out of them, 25t horn is fine, i used a trx4 metal horn in mine.
The servos garbage worth getting a better quality one with metal gears too.

Not yet, i have enough ftx models tho to know their bodies are thin and the servos are pants. The new zorro (not the outlaw with sc skin) looks like a solid platform for going really fast 🙂 tho so might get one at some point after having so much fun with the banzai 🙂

The Zorro is rapid on 3's, straight line speed on 3's matched my brothers Xmaxx like for like no joke! And traction and stability is spot on.. Apart from the minor issues i mentioned above its a bargain SC for £230.00...

 

I will however be upgrading the servo as you suggested with the metal horn, there are also some really good upgrades on CML Distribution and they are cheap as chips, not sure how legit that place is but seems to stock everything to do with FTX
