OBD tool for Golf

Apparently putting a new battery in MK7.5 Golf requires the code to be updated, so that the charging system knows a new battery has been installed and if the battery type or capacity has changed.  There seems to many OBD tools, OBDeleven seems most popular for VW.  Anyone recommend one? It needs to change and save the code, not just read and clear faults,

Did you need the Pro version of OBDeleven?  Not sure what can be with standard version.
