Went to pull my pull start on my hobao hyper 7 and the handle come off and the pull cable went inside so took the pull start off and the spring has come out. Stormbringer Posted September 14, 2020 Share Posted September 14, 2020 yup thats about it mate i never succeeded in doing it 1st time either but once you get it in put a piece of wire through 2 of holes in pulstart and across the pull wheel to hold it in place till you get it onto engine shaft and once on shaft and almost in place remove the wire best of luck mate 🍻 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As you've found, they can be repaired but even if you capture the spring locator, find a way to keep it in place then sort the actual pull chord, ime they're never the same. Smoothybb Posted September 14, 2020 Share Posted September 14, 2020 Good luck, it's definitely worth tinkering with, it's all part of the hobby, the main thing is to keep thinking calm thoughts or you'll end launching it like I do... In the past, I've ended up with the pull cord not recoiling completely and rather than take it apart again, a length of fuel tube round the cord can help stop the handle flapping around. 👍 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

squarecrumpets Posted September 16, 2020 Share Posted September 16, 2020 My spring broke on its own last week. I've been using a box starter so the COPS cord hasn't been pulled for weeks. While the engine was idling I heard a loud snap and the cord just came out. Had to snip it off with a pair of cutters. I've replaced the whole COPS unit with a new one as I happen to have a spare.
