Axial UMG10 - Opinions

Hi All,

I had one of those odd telephone conversations with my girlfriend today (she is in lockdown at her house 40 miles away). The upshot of it is that she told me to buy another truck!!!!

So I am sitting here trying to decide what to buy, I already have 2x TRX-4 so am not really interested in another portal axle truck, and I have an Enduro, so again nothing too similar to that either. I also prefer kits and have spare radio/ESC and motors laying around.

So I ended up looking at the Axial UMG10. I like the look, and already have some ideas for an African Safari version, but I really would like to hear what people think of the UMG10. Is it worth building? I know it won't be awesome in the performance department but is it okay/decent? I'll probably use it as a trail truck more than a crawler, to be honest.

Would value any thoughts you all may have.

Thanks

No reason why it won't be a good performer, the body is quite high, but it's also lexan and not a full body, like a Cherokee or Wrangler or something similar.

It's only really the cab that's high up, so not much weight there.

Couple that with short wheelbase for 'sharp' objects and it'd be a great performer IMO.

Thanks @Oh How Original really appreciate your thoughts and comments, have found your advice/comments very valuable since I have been on the forum.

Happy to help chap, I've some experience with short wheelbase crawlers, but not specifically the UMG10, I did have one, but plans changed, the chap I sold it to about a year ago still uses it now and says it's excellent.

I've been watching YouTube videos and doing some research and I think I may have to get this. I will also look to get a Holmes Hobbies motor from Red Winches for it (thanks for that link too), I have a 37kg/cm servo and a HW1080 spare so I think I am set, bar paint 😀. Really appreciate your help.

Okay, I am weak willed, order placed and I've grabbed a Holmes Hobby 35T Crawlmaster from Red Winches  for it too

They’re really nice

This one is a Heinz 57 built a good few years ago on a Axial chassis 2 speed 35t 1080 canter-leaver rear, pit bulls. HD servo, Baja lights, remote winch, tow hitch

Well it arrived today. Looking forward to getting started on Saturday. I will be printing some bits like inner fenders between now and Saturday.
