Kpowell911
I thought it looked cool haha. Defo prefer the bigger wheels look on thr buggy. We will have to see pricing. Sub £900 from a UK shop ill be on it I think.
Noj
Sub a grand and still worth buying, IMHO.
.AJ.
Looks to be a decent buggy for the money, but as I've already had a DBXL before im not really drawn to it at all....
mydoddy69
I wonder what sort of runtimes your get using that combo ? I think at £900 it's a fair price to be honest when you look at the X Maxx at £899 which is all plastic. Over the grand then I'll be walking away though
Noj
I'd expect 20 minutes from 8000mah packs.... In fact, it has to achieve that or it can't join the club.
mond
I think with a bit of customising, it might be possible on this E DBXL to put 4 4S on it. All the conversions have the motor to the left of the diff, this has it to the right, so freeing up a ton of space.
mydoddy69
Just watched the guy on FB taliking about these there a few changes from the gasser like the driveline is now central the gearing has changed on the ring and pinion the cage itself and the wing plus the front top plate. He then compares the motor to a can of pop lol so yeah it's a big old beast .. Shocks have a had a revamp but from what I gather on his own rig he uses Losi 5 shocks and MT XL towers he also runs mechanical brakes which will come as a kit. Sounds like they have made a fair few few changes to this and improved it over the gasser

Im very tempted. Wonder if theres any future plans for a Hobbywing Max 4 for 10S operation, combined with a circa 500kv motor. This certainly sounds like it is built for it. The Xmaxx driveline is pretty maxed out with the stock combo.
Kpowell911
Anymore news on price/pre order? OR more importantly. Battery box size. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/losi-desert-buggy-xl-e-1-5th-4wd-electric-rtr-grey/rc-car-products/413262 Edited March 26, 2017 by Guns
Noj
Wouldn't be worrying about tray size, the layout and space makes for easy mods to fit in what you want.... Pretty sure my 8000mah zippys won't fit the stock trays (too long and wide), the dremmel and extra straps cures all....

Battery tray going of the recommended lipos and pics the trays will be around 150 x 50 so not the biggest but like Noj says dremel and straps cures all but I'm only guessing here o they maybe bigger

SURELY thats got to be cheaper than all the Gas Gubbins. Stock Dynamite 23cc engine with spark plug and Pipe etc is about £200rrp ? sound about right? Cant seem to find a definitive answer. It's never really worked like that, I remember having the same discussion and doing all the math back in the day when you could buy the E-Revo for 300 quid, And the brushless was still like £550, You could buy the brushed version and an MMM combo legit from Modelsport cheaper than what they were selling the brushless version for, Madness. Whats even more amazing, Is that I remember back in the day defending the new boys on the block, Saying how you had to give them a chance, Had a few Hobbywings and Leopard motors around and about the 2008, 2009 region that were faultless, But still had to defend them to the hilt against the MMM brigade. How things have come full circle, We all feel more secure when we see it's a Hobbywing re-brand, And feel just as upbeat when it looks like a Leopard motor, Are Castle still in business,I mean, Even the love in between them and Traxxas seems to have fizzled out, And that must have been a big chunk of change to lose.
Noj
Mechanical brake kit will be available as a hop up for this from Losi..... Now the wait begins.....
RCbutcher
Yeah castle are done. All the brands have ditched castle now. Only the erevo and yeti XL come with castle now i believe. Hpi did it quietly swapping to hobbywing. Axial scx10 mayb other brushed rcs use hw1040? Thats funny Axial swapped out a castle sidwinder esc for the cheapest of cheap hw escs. Like the cheapest of cheap hw1040 is a worthy replacement of the castle lol. Hw1060 is cheap as cheap too but wasnt used. I still believe in castle motors but couldnt care less about castle escs. The hobbywing max5 beasting a losi 5t around is all the proof anyone needs to trust hobbywing escs. Yet USA threads slate hobbywing as junk. But i think its bcos they prefer to buy home grown brand's even if they arent the best. They auto are. Its possible all castle has to do is up the amps per size. They go from a chart below everyone else. I wish hobbywing had the data stuff to be able to compare motors against each other. Unless the castles can't do that since i cant find a data sheet showing vs motors. So mayb its not as easy as i think. I really want to see castle hobbywing and Leppards 2200kv motors go head to head. Then the 3800kv sized stuff and so on. We mayb shocked. Oh How Original
Hmmm, I was very set on buying the DBXL at the model shop on Thursday (if it's still there, which I think it will be) but at this price, for brushless power and quiet... I may just hold out and maybe join you real brushless RCers in the large scale game! My concern would be getting the anti-spark all right and cap pack and whatnot, but I'm sure one of you boffins will help a noob in trouble
.AJ.
The max5/6 has anti spark built in, so no worries on that front
mond
I'd prefer HW to Castle if HW had a similar thing to Castle Link. The HW Wifi express is cool but ultimately not as easy to use as Castle Link. I just can't get it to work on one of my ESCs. That an the mid and low grade ESCs seem to not like odd size batteries. That is a pain. The 8 and 20amp built in BECs are nice in the new Castle ESCs though.
Noj
Going to run the 160a ESC until it dies, then warranty and fit a max5.... I really don't feel comfortable with 8s on 160a....

Hmmm, that makes it an even more tempting deal, I have been so close to a brushless Baja on several occasions. Shall do some YouTubing to get a feel of what sort of power and speeds to expect from that kv on 8s. Even more tempting with those 4s Graphenes popping up at cheap money every so often! .AJ.
The anti spark worked great on 6s with the Max6 when I had one in a MTE, not sure what you mean about it being efficient? It there's little or no spark then it works fine
Noj
Built in no spark works very well. I am, already spoken to the big man, soon as they are available, I'm having one.... To not do so would be a miscarriage of RC justice. This also means there may well be tasty 1/10th kit going up for sale....
Oh How Original
What 1/10th? Hmmm, it's a very tempting idea to just wait for it and finally dip my toe in the large scale BL scene. I've been longing for it for what feels like forever! Having being royally let down on the last chance that I was committed to buying... I know it's something I do want to do! I'm right in thinking the Max6 doesn't recognise odd cell counts?
