Welcome to the forum Jim.  

 

I 'd advise replacing the entire radio gear.  You may get a 2nd had Tx, as the Rx in these can be tempermental, complete new radio gear, that's much improved over the stock system, can be had very cheaply.  On a tight budget I'd recommend this:

It's multi model - so one tx can bind to multiple rx, spare rx are about £8 too.  If your budget is a little higher, there's a 3C version that has a (removeable) rechargeable Li-ION battery like a mobile phone.  It's thus much lighter and cheaper to run (though you can use a 3S lipo to run the 3b).
