Hell horn.
All my cars get metal hex as the first upgrades. My hpi killed all 4 plastic ones in about 30 seconds. For about £5 it's definitely a good upgrade.

Gonna paint mine sort of. Got an idea in mind it's just trying to get it to work that might be a pain in the arse. Looks good with the aluminium on the inside and probably less hassle too lol Edited August 28, 2017 by Pete D

Bigjimknickers
Took mine out tonight with the upgraded Alloy hexs & flanged wheel nuts, wow, it's pretty rapid on 2s with the 23T gearing! I don't think it'll last long on 3s though. overall great fun, but I totally agree with Johninderby, the goolrc combo cogs to a point it's unusable as a crawler! So pretty pointless really! back to the drawing board.. maybe back to the 3500kv hobbywing & a 10bl 60 esc?
ADH66
Another run out, another spur gear eaten. Getting a little tired of this now, 3 spurs in as many months. Total run time probably an hour. I think the car is gonna go to the local RC shop for them to check it over, summat ain't right. Could running the Bugsta wheels be putting too much stress on the drive train? Only mod to the drivetrain has been the metal prop.
johninderby
The wheels shouldn't be a problem. I'm on the original spur gear which still looks brand new. A few people seem to be going through spur gears but many are having no problems at all. Wonder if it could be a problem with the motor mount not seating properly or being out of shape? John Thanks John, I didn't really think the wheels would be a big issue but am grasping at straws otherwise. This time the pinion seems fine, maybe I'm unlucky and jammed a wheel with a stone or something momentarily. I can imagine it doesn't take a second to strip a tooth enough for it to then roast the whole disc. So I thought, let someone take a look at it instead of me poking around making matters worse. If it gets the all clear, then I guess I'm just unlucky.

John Or possibly cheap BL motors having the motor mount holes poorly centered as I've come across this before, on many cars with adjustable gearing it's not an issue as you set the binding of the pinion and spur yourself but in these "fixed gear fixed posittion" cars so to speak it would be a huge problem casting them to either be to tight or to lose each way ends in stripped spur gear every time
johninderby
Hadn't considered that cheap BL motors might have poorly centred mounting holes. I fitted an Ares sensored motor that does seem to be well made and haven't had problems. John
