It is a very nice example, but at that price it will have to go to somebody with either a real love of that particular car or a love of collectible Tamiyas.

Realistically whats it going to cost me do you think? Thats an opening bid of £250

How to say really - if a couple of Ford fanatics or serious Tamiya collectors find the auction and get into a bidding war it could go for many hundreds. It could also be that the auction goes relatively unnoticed and the seller struggles to find the starting bid. We'll have to wait and see!

Useless comment of the day... I still really want a SandShaker (TT02T)  i know they are useless and fall over with speed, have poor ground clearance and really havent sold that well at all. I dont know of anyone that has one. But i still quite want one and i dont understand why. Lol.

Box is a little battered, and Ive bought the paint a bearing kit, so I suppose ill build it :)

That's the spirit! I'm sure it'll turn out looking great. Far more exciting than a box of bits, that's for sure!

Keep us updated on that Focus, there is an Escort Cosworth, new in box for £460 on ebay at the moment!

I found an original monster beetle window glass that has the back window and also bought a re-re body. Hopefully got a TT01E on the way too, I want to put the Subaru NBR body on it.

I need to find some 2x6mm self tapping screws (for the MB body). Any ideas where to find some ? ebay has several sellers offering 1000 countersunk ones, but not round/panhead.. and I only need a few.

The guy selling the Cosworth is the guy I got my Focus from, highly recommended. He gave me a bit of a discount on the Focus, im tempted to wack a high £300 offer on the Cosworth just to see...

No doubt its rare enough to command the price (like your Focus), to much money for me though - I think i'd go buy an HPI/Losi etc for that sort of money. The TT01E albeit it far more common was £50 with radio gear/esc. Much more my sort of price range!

Thats not bad for a new kit is it. If you get bored of the shell from what I can work out pretty much all the tamiya touring car bodies fit the TL/TT chassis, 190mm bodies from elsewhere will fit too, some of these are a couple of mm out on wheelbase, probably not enough to notice. As I said I want the NBR body, I've always liked the livery of the real car.

I just buy them and build them up most of mine havent even got radio gear. I enjoy building and displaying Tamiyas more than running them. The TL-01 Focus was my first kit I ever built aged 11, hence why I got this :)

My 1st Tamiya kit was the Focus sat on the TB01 chassis. My uncle did a mint job of spraying the car amd perfectly applying all the stickers. But he didnt know they have the protective film over the body.....the stickers stick quite well to that film until it starts to peel. Lol.

I massively overpaid on a N.I.B. TL-01 with the Alfa 155 V6Ti Bosch body shell. :boredlook:

That was my first ever hobby-grade RC and I wanted another one.

It was new, unbuilt, bits still in bags etc. but the body had been finished. Sounded great! Fraction over £200 delivered from the U.S., but got hit by a £43 import charge.

Still, not disastrous... until I discovered the absolute meal that the guy made of the body shell!! That body shell was the reason I bought it!! :banghead:

Damn.

Thankfully this is all un used, however I’ll probably make a meal of the shell myself so dont worry!

All this malarky has restarted because I rebuilt my old Manta Ray I had *cough* years ago. Somehow another 5 cars followed ? Ebay has a lot to answer for!

Like you I find it more interesting putting them together and fixing up all the broken stuff than I do running them, I've run 2 or 3 of the cars once and thats about it. I'm taking the lunchbox and midnight pumpkin to my meet my 5 & 7 year old nephew & niece today.. I think the cars are scared!

I'm just (mostly) using silvercan motors and nimhs at the moment but considering getting a turnigy brushless setup to mess around with.

I still have my Super Sabre that I had before the Manta Ray, absolutely stock, MSC and all.

Went out about 2pm last night to the pub to watch England with my Fiancee. It got to 5 minutes before kick she told me she felt ill, tried to wade though the masses of people and she collapsed, fortunately in front of a group of Student Doctors who sorted everything out for us! I took her home and she went to bed, and is fortunately fine now, we re putting it down to the heat. Anyway I was bored sooo

Body is in paint as we speak.

I fitted bearings, I had a spare Tamiya ESC So stuck that in as opposed to the MSC (I only had one servo anyway)

Also fitted the 4th shelf, going to need a 5th for the Subaru, and 5 looks odd so my Mrs has told me to get a 6th shelf and kit ;) Don't know what kit mind!

That didn't take long! Looking good.

The lunchbox and pumpkin survived the kids, nephew got to grips with it quickly, niece.. not so much but she's not got the best co-ordination anyway! she did eventually figure out how not to run it in to the fence at full speed... they and the monster beetle were great on the grass.

A rear pumpkin body mount fell apart and a body clip is missing from the lunchbox. Ordered some 3d printed mounts in ABS, hopefully they will be a bit more supple.

In other news one of the flysky gt3bs is still playing up - its really weird. Works fine, I had the car probably 50m away from me, drove it back and then it started playing up, controller couldn't be any more than a couple of feet away (receiver LED goes from solid to flashing). Checked it again when I got home and I could be a fair way from the car, then it started playing up again and couldn't go any more than a few feet. I know its the transmitter because it does it with receivers, all receivers are ok with the other controller.

Considering getting a flysky fs-i6 (prefer stick to wheel) - I know you can lock the gimbals so throttle only goes up/down and steering left/right. The only slight hitch is that throttle is channel 3, not 2. That means if I wanted to swap between the gt3b and i6 I'd have to move the speed controller plug in the receiver. Possible that I can swap the wiring inside the controller, would have to look.

Hoping the TT01E will turn up this week, I paid for it over a week ago and it was meant to be here by now but the seller hasn't dispatched it. I messaged him asking when it might be sent and he said "packaged it up, all ready to go". If it doesn't get sent in a few days I'll open a case for a refund, have a feeling he was expecting more for it.

Flysky can be a bit dodgy. I had a receiver failure, sending my truck into full-power runaway mode!

So then I used my Ansmann receiver (which was a rebranded Flysky), worked for a while, then it also failed, wouldn't work from more than 20 feet away.

My gt3b (which was playing up, itself, by this point) got moved to my scale crawler, where runaways and range don't matter! I couldn't just use the Ansmann (again, rebranded) transmitter, because that had failed a long time prior! Hence, why I had a spare Ansmann receiver.

Some folk happily use Flysky for years. Others, not so much. It's not just me being unlucky, I did a bit of research, following these issues and it happens semi-regularly. I won't buy Flysky again.
