First RC helicopter/drone

Recommended Posts

Not much for your budget if you want to fly outside. You are only going to get a used micro heli for that money...or else you will have to go for something like a WL 911 which is OK, but going in the bin if you break it as spares can be hard to source. It's a fixed pitch heli. Nothing that will fly in any wind at all.

By 'drone' I presume you mean quad copter?

If you want a cheap quad, then there is the Hubsan X4. It's big enough to fly outside on a calm day, and cheap. I recently bought a Syma X12...but that is tiny :) Great for indoor, but hopeless outside

These are okay and you can get spares but not really usable outside.

You want a 4channel model of whatever you choose as that gives you "proper" controls unlike the cheap 3 or 3.5 channel models

Definitely get 4 channel. Otherwise, you don't really learn anything about how to fly them.

Coax will be more stable and simpler to fly, but once mastered...it's not going to be much fun. Fixed pitch rotor will be a bit more of a challenge to begin with...but will fly better and be more responsive.
