Tamiyacowboy Posted February 3, 2015 Share Posted February 3, 2015 called a Steel and flint and a handy tool to, ever found you lighter not working and you cannot fire up the gas soldering iron, you can use a steel and flint. to most its a mundane silly gift idea, but to others its a life saving piece of gear. without heat we die, if you do not know how to make fire your gonna be in trouble. no gas, no lighters, matches etc etc, what do you do then, hmmm bust out the steel and flint. grandad is a gardener give it to grandad to light his bonfires, a little cotton fluff and a couple strikes of steel and its burning, no fuel or vapour fumes and a safe grandad. father is a welder/cutter, he uses a gas torch or brasing bench so need to stike to light the gas sometimes strikes fail get worn or just get damp, but a emergancy steel and flint can be very handy tool.
