JustBashIt
Baja Well I've been out of the 1/5th scale world for a few years now after sellin my Losi 5 and Baja to help fund the build of a 1/1 racecar to compete in 2015. However I decided I needed a toy for myself and abit of a project for when it's too cold to go to the garage and work in my 1/1. It was either a well specd used Baja, used Losi or a new KM x2. After deciding a Losi is out of my budget and that the new km looks abit on the cheapside (it will never live up to the rep of my old 5) this popped up on the forum at a price I couldn't refuse. As u can see its a Kraken built on a km darknight chassi. However there's not much darknight left. General spec is......esp ported zenoah 29 4 bolt, 990 carb, gbe side pipe, full krakken cage with bumper, light rack, alloy 3 peice gearbox, rpm arms in white, alloy hubs, killer rc kill switch, brand new shocks, limiting cables, all chassis plates are hd ones, upgraded hinge pins and braces, hostile knobbly tires, sand paddles, proline trenchers, chassis brace at front, alturn jumbo steering servo, Latin throttle servo. Plus loads of other ally braces and what not. It also came with a great spares package which includes 3 sets of wheels and tyres. Spare heads, clutches, braces, shocks the list goes on....massive thanks to watchman for the deal and credit to u for building a nice truck. Pleasure doing business with you ! Plans are to redo the panels and put my own twist on the truck, PCSC, then maybe a one 30.5 full mod at a later date. But over the Christmas break my plan is to get it dirty once my dx3 radio gear arrives. Edited December 14, 2014 by JustBashIt

RCbutcher
Definitely good looking build. Is the front bumper a kraken too? looks nice and not streched out like the 5t bunper.

JustBashIt
Just stripped the diff and changed the oil. Went for 30k for now, there was some horrible gearbox oil like substance in there. Next job is strip and refil the shocks oil with something thick as I like jumping my rc's. I would do a full strip and rebuild of the whole truck but I'm planing on bashing it like mad over Christmas then I may rebuild it. Can't wait till my radio gear comes then it's bash time
Nitroholic
If the substance in your diff had a vague greenish/grey colour to it, that's what KM put in their diffs in place of proper silicon diff oil. 30K is thicker than I go for, but that's personal taste. Replacing the oil is a good move on any KM in my view. Slap plenty of CV grease in the gearbox case on rebuild, and check the bearings while you are in there. JustBashIt
Diff bearings need replacing and a set have been ordered. I greased the final drive with silicone grease before assembly. It's all I had grease wise so should do the job until my new bearings come. I've also got some cv boots coming to replace the torn one. The stuff that was in was grey from use but stunk so could well be the km factory stuff.
the watchman
Yes mate, thats bog standard km "diff" oil, looks and smells like auto gearbox oil for 1:1 cars, thats how new this km is pal, ive never changed it as its only been used a hand full of times, nice to see you cracking on with it or kraken on with it lol (sorry lol) Ohh you should have looked in the spares mate, theres some cup boots in there pal Edited December 17, 2014 by the watchman
JustBashIt
When I say I've got some coming I mean I've already got some there just at my unit lol. Bought a set with my last Baja but never used them. Lol. The spares are still in my car which is at work and I'm in the work van which is why I havent seen them lol. I'll go through the boxes tomoz properly. I also need to decide what obr wrap to buy. Red, white or green!
(-:AD:-)
Obr are cr4p imo. Wouldn't want them all over my car. Uber rc wrap... customised
JustBashIt
No major update, just got my sparkly dx3 and bound it to the car (cheers Mo). All end points have been set and the killer bee. Easy to set up and works a treat. Just fitted the hostile mx tyres ready for a test rip tomorrow before the shock rebuild. Also a quick pic of all the spares.

JustBashIt
Took this for a quick blast on the local field forgot how fun bajas are. Although the hostile a really bit into the grass and kept the back end in check. I do need to look at the steering however. Not sure if it's the servo or the rx battery pack running low but the steering is really weak and when at a standstill if I turn the steering the wheels won't move at all. Any recommendations for a replacement ? The think I love about this Baja is how it looks. The kraken cage is awesome. I do still miss my old Losi 5ive and would consider one again, just not sure I could part with this Baja and I definatly can't afford the two while I'm building this 1/1race car. This is where my money's going atm....
