HPI water proof servo and knitting needle front strut brace mod. Its also running an Ansmann 23T clash motor but i have no idea if these are any good yet Build thread here - Cheers, Nige

Sharkfat78
Lunchbox shelf queen owner here. Bit of a story. Wanted one as a kid every Christmas but never got one, just knew it as a yellow monster truck but that was it. Saw one online and the wife said to order it. Finally got one about 20 years after I first saw it. When it turned up I noticed it said 'Vanessa's Lunchbox' on the side. My wife's called Vanessa

cupramat
I have just brought n finished building mine. Got to do all the mods to it but will do them ova the winter. Here is is at the moment
nelual
Took my 7 year old to the local skateboard park today. As we're both just getting into the hobby I'm just working out the Lunchbox's tolerance for abuse (as well as giving me an excuse to buy spares and upgrades). He battered the thing for 30 minutes! After some god awful driving and some unrecoverable jumps, I am a lot wiser. He managed to smash out a window, the shell is decidedly second hand, the shell came away from the chassis (dispite it being screwed to mounts!) and the servo saver came away (despite being blue threadlocked). Before: After: I didn't even get a go but still had fun! We made a vid too but I didn't really capture the best bits of the bash.
nelual
I have just brought n finished building mine. Got to do all the mods to it but will do them ova the winter. I'm the same. I've just fashioned a chassis stiffener for the front out of thick acrylic and have on order; lights front and rear, metal bearings, Ansmann dampers (so I can do the 3rd/5th shock mod) and I'm searching for a muscle car shell. I'm reckoning I'm going to need to get a 2.4 controller, those dumb 27mhz's are outright dangerous in the hands of a 7 year old... will have to wear safety glasses next time we take it out

nelual
Nice vans guys... cant wait to get mine out and about I've just seen your LB build thread and you gave me some great ideas! Namely holding off with the acrylic brace and doing your knitting needle fix instead (Nice work too by the way!)
n_d_fox
I used a 4.5mm knitting needle, cut it down to size and then filed each end flat so i could drill through it and mount it onto the chassis nice and square... i've mounted it across the front body mount positions so it braces the chassis and replaces the plastic mounts with a solid bar... A lot of people i've seen use knitting needles go for 5mm... this would be fine but you'd have to drill out the holes on the body as 5mm would be slightly too big. The filed 4.5mm is perfect and snug. I've realised I never took any pics of that or the chassis rebuilt without the body, once i've got the radio gear etc sorted i'll take some better pics of the chassis. Cheers, Nige
nelual
Thanks for the tip. Across the body mounts make sense as it would make a chassis brace and strong body mount all in one tidy go. Nearly bought the aluminium mounts yesterday to go with the thick acrylic brace I have already made, but will do this first.

n_d_fox
Other than this one (obviously) this thread - http://radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=86518 - has to be one of the best threads if you love the Lunch Box and want to mod it in any way. Its a decent read but these CRP kits and pretty much everything else we are looking at doing to our kits now was done during the 10 years or so that thread ran for. Theres a very good fitting guide for the CRP kit in there too. HTH, Nige
nelual
Bugger. The ansmann 3rd/5th shock seems to be leaking on mine Will have to take it apart and have a look. Is there a chance I've just over filled the shock? I filled it to the top but left some room for the lid....
flash22
The bottom seals leak on them if you overfill it, strip and rebuild job
