  1. tuned to perfection... was that before or after he hit the bench?
  2. I'm deffo up for the BMX track next year! I've got stacks of work to get done before this year is out though so I've had to sideline my hobby for a short while unfortunately :/
  3. I use a tiny amount of after run oil, mostly if my car isn't going to be used for a while - it helps disperse any water in the nitro fuel so the engine doesn't corrode. Never had any problems with it.
  4. It's probably better to just bump your old thread instead of starting the same again a few days later, saves the forum from getting too many new threads
  5. Yeah I agree, fiberglass will crack and shatter... you NEED a shell to bend to protect both the car and shell!
  6. Have you checked the motor temperatures after WOT and a run?... You may be running lean which is burning up the plugs.
  7. If the car isn't initially pulling fuel through the carb, put your finger over the end of the exhaust for the first few tugs and this will send more pressure through the exhaust return to push the fuel into the motor... be careful not to flood though! Also, it's rather cold at the moment... is your plug a warm enough one for this time of year?
  8. Is the carb fully seated into the engine? There could be an air leak causing the car to rev
  9. Is the carb fully shut with trims at zero? Has the carb [close] return spring come off preventing the carb from staying shut?
  10. Whatever happens, don't worry too much... once things are running well, you are gonna love the Savage to bits. It puts a smile on my face every single time I use it
  11. The LSN affects idle and start up (flooding), I found my Savage LSN by default was quite a bit too rich at the factory settings. Once you get used to it, you can feel if there is gonna be a startup problem on the rotostart itself (the amount it feels like it's trying to torque twist in your hand)... Do you have your OS8 plug in there at the mo as the standard HPI one will be too cold for these temps.
  12. Hey there! I wish my garage looked like that
  13. Lovely looking Lunchbox... possibly even my fave one so far!! Just a quickly... while your strut brace looks tidy, having ball ends on will still allow the body to laterally flex (top separate to bottom)... it may be better to have something which has solid end mounts more like a real strut brace.
  14. With this weather, today I'll be staying indoors and playing with the Micro-T :)

    1. JFS666

      Micro-T??? is this a new addition ???

I've had it for a while! I should have brought it down for you to play with on Thursday, It's a scream, so fast!

  15. If you lived a bit closer to Cambridge, I'd offer for you to pop over and I'll help you get this fixed up and tune it for you - once sorted, the Savage X SE is a beast and very robust!
  16. The OWB is very easy to change on the Savage... pop the motor out (4 screws underneath), then it's 4 screws to remove the plastic rear engine plate which contains this bearing. You could have this job done in under 20 mins and it's a pretty safe job to do. You may have broken the OWB by having things too rich and flooding the motor when trying to start it. This would essentially lock things up and cause something to break.
  17. Just re-fitted the fuel system, added new fuel pipe, a stone fuel filter and use some left over fuel pipe and cable ties to stop any further scratching on the motor. I fixed the fuel filter in from the top to keep it nice and secure, and left the serviceable screw side of the fuel filter to the rear. I'm not sure if a fuel filter works better around one way than the other, I guess I can always turn it around if I find a problem. I used some left over fuel tube and cable ties to add some engine protection: Next up, modify the holes in my shell for the slightly longer TVPs, refit the roll bar, then it's about ready to run again
  18. I think may do the mid tank at some point, just didn't want to get in too deep in a single modding session and end up with no savage and a box of parts haha ...And deffo can sort out the original ones, I just didn't want to damage them any more
  19. Various OFNA stuff from Ebay, for example: Two sets of this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320978770378 Some of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160853073553 I also got an Integy throttle mix set as the plastic one is a bit bendy, and also a new servo arm... then mash all the bits together
  20. Drop them an email, Innovative RC are fantastic, and you never know... they may have Savage XS stuff in the works! The more emails they get about stuff, the more likely you will see stuff coming from them
  21. I wouldn't necessarily aim for cheapest on the market as your key selling point - just aim for better designed, stronger, better service etc. People will soon treat you as a reputable brand (such as Innovative RC who does incredible CNC stuff and have very high customer satisfaction). If you want to make a business out of this, selling things cheap as possible will make that harder for you!
  22. Black anodised 4mm 6082-T6 aluminium... here is the linky: http://www.innovativ...bone-p-335.html
  23. After bending the precious HPI Special Edition numbered TVPs (haha oops), I decided to replace with some much more robust Innovative RC TVPs. These are things of beauty - very nice finish and feel very strong! I opted for the 6mm extended ones for better handling, but obviously this effects the throttle linkage which no longer reached. Here is a pic of the custom linkage me and JFS666 worked on last night, pretty pleased with the results! I still need to adjust everything properly, refit the fuel tank and a new fuel filter, roll bar, get the engine positioned correctly (as it's now sitting lower... also much harder to get to the engine mounts with the new TVPs)... then make double sure that my linkage won't get stuck on full throttle with the brake lever disconnecting ahaha and I'm good to go!
  24. I think the bash tomorrow is a no go for me - I have the Savage back together but the steering linkage is not yet setup properly! It's gonna be a beast when it's finished though, weighs about 6 tonnes
  25. Yep Deffo Sat 1st! The post on the 1st page is wrong
