  1. I use 1/8th buggy springs on the front, same ftx shocks, stops it being so soft, also sway bar is a must. Wouldnt bother with the metal axle, your putting forces into more parts that break. Metal chassis is a must. Also the rear sway bar is pretty cheese and doesnt actually do much, The ebays ones are better but the sway bar metal is cheese, so keep the bar and upgrade the rear arms to metal ones.
  2. good call on the rubber in the cups it stops them flopping about, they will wear out everthing does, its the dirt and dust that wear them out, maybe after a while driving. Id expect the diff ring gear to wear out before the cups, you can get little silicon diff cup covers to help keep dirt out, or try axial ones that will be made of harder steel. Side note the outer drive cups the ones for the rear wheels, hobao outputs fit. Got a pic of the damage?
  3. Theres something wrong then, either the driving or the setup, do they explode when breaking? A few people speed run these and similar ftx cars. The cups / drive line can do well over 100mph with no issues. 4s - 6s no failures, but also just going straight.
  4. ftx diff cups are all the same, carnage, vantage, outlaw, banzai, etc they can handle the loads, if the cups are popping something else is wrong. I know axial diff hardware will fit the ftx diffs and visa versa.
  5. you have really big fingers, or that car is truely tiny, just joking, love watching this come together
  6. Razz with a new open wheel record 181mph, its going to be an epic year at ROSSA if raz and martin go for it. (Martin had the prior open wheel record 179? irrc with my old limitless)
  7. Wet rocks yes, there are some premium 100£ tires that may like wet rocks but not really worth it imo. Depends also on the rock, how much sands on the tires etc, for the most part the canyons are best all rounders and as they wear in they get better. You can also snipe them if you want more grip on dry rock. Yes they are glued, unless you got the kit and never glued them. The cheapish fast trax alloys are very heavy and sit well on these and prolines. (heavyweight ones)
  8. Honestly the best tires are the traxxas ones, they are spot on. You really will not find better tires for cheap or expensive. The compound is what matters and they just rock. If your wanting a performance boost, look at 2 stage foams, helps with the side roll and keeps the tires upright when cornering, so flips less.
  9. Hobao showing they still got it. Epic stuff, if i could get a vte and retire my old buggy, one day...
  10. not the stock plastic geared ones, they will melt pretty quick, if you have powerhd ones they will take the hv
  11. Havent done mine, doesnt flex enough to cause the mesh to skip so didnt waste money on it, money better put into brass. Yes if your on stock servos 6v but those servos come to life at 7v+ its day and night performance difference if you pinch into tight rocks allot.
  12. All ftx chassis are glass fiber nylon composite and they are garbage and are actually made with glass... 40mph is pretty fast but go 100mph and crash it... amazingly my glass chassis hasnt snapped yet same chassis as ftx banzai, gotta go faster. 😉
  13. Check it again its easy to make an error, make sure the pinion isnt rubbing on the gear or housing too. Dont forget to turn up the bec volatage to 7.4 for your new servo, just watch the built in esc they do pop on the old fusions.
  14. Welcome, what hobbywing setup were you wanting to go for in your canyon? You cant go to brushless without swapping the esc, it will only do brushed motors. I used to use etronix servos, waste of money, swap from etronix to powerhd asap, 25kg+ should do it, as for the snappyness, this should be sorted when your hobbywing esc turns up, the becs (servo power unit) is much better and puts out more constant power. 15t pinion from the looks of it, monkey brass wont hold up to brushless power, nore will the spur gear long term, stock up on spur gears, looks like .6 mod or close to 48dp pitch. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/ftx-mighty-thunder-15t-pinion-gear-425170 https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/ftx-kanyon-mighty-thunder-70t-spur-gear-425169
  15. Thermal paste and fans make no diffrence as its the computator brushes that melt. All a fan does it cool the motor magnets and housing, these are not the parts that fail. There no freedom with the stock transmission, a low kv big 550 can brushless gives smoother low rpm startup, theres people here that dont use sensored and it works good for them. As we crawl our outlaw we went a different route, 4600kv 550 sensorless motor gives it enough speed to still be fun even through a plastic 3 gear transmission.
  16. Welcome, cant supply the wanted ad but heres some questions for your question 😁 What do you want from your RC, jumps, flips, crashes, crawling, bashing, speedruns, onroad off road? RTR is ready to repair, plug and play the same, buy cheap buy twice, cant go wrong with traxxass durability wise in everday use cases. Dont forget tools and spares, take your budget and triple it, tires, shock oils, whats that brushless, another 200 if they dont come with it. Lipos another rabbit hole, and ££ the best information is read up and reasearch before you buy and better yet try before you buy, go out to a rc meet, join a group and see what others are doing too, if thats your jam. If it makes you grin your onto a win.
  17. I know so send it till you bend it, but as Hell said, 6s that wimpy numbers go 8s 😘
  18. Volt up gear down and send it on 6s 😉
  19. You cant put on a smaller pinion as the motor hits the output shafts, you cant get bigger spur gears to compensate for a smaller pinion, so sadly your hot out of luck. 13t - 35t, dewalt drill motors they all will melt on the outlaw gearing, smaller wheels on road will work sure, but thats not what the trucks for its more of a rock racer but has the gearing of a 1/10 buggy or on road car 😞 Whatever puts a smile on your face and if thats the case dont worry about it. We tried many things, different motors etc, axe 550 r2 was the best but still geared to high for a crawler system. End of the day i wasnt comfortable doing the mods at the start but it was that or chuck the truck in the bin. 3 years later the gmade transmission is still fine, when before the outlaw was eating spur gears every outing.
  20. took the savage xs out, drove it to the end of the road and it died, no chirp when starting up unless i disconnected a motor lead, wouldnt accept resetting, tried 2 - 4s nothing. got home plugged another motor in same issue, tried a diffrent esc no issues, so not a melted motor, hobbwing esc's dont normally die on me. still not starting up with 3 cables connected, connnected 2 and reset the esc, configured it with 2 cables connected and then connected in the 3rd. chirp chirp, back to life... very odd but glad nothings actually broken.
  21. 😞 sorry to hear that, brushed motor will not last long outside or going slow, ours lasted 20min off road before it smoked, goodluck tho
  22. chess on play station one, its the only game i have. Mostly play pc games, been playing lots of beam ng multiplayer with the lad, cracking crawling fun with the multi player mod.
  23. Outlaw leaving its burrow after hibernation, sadly it was still drunk from to much summer heat and collapsed at the entrance. Found it taking a drink a few days later, didnt hang about and scampered off. 20221029_133556.mp4 To find some rocks to crawl. 🤣 20221016_140132.mp4
  24. Its open to let the stuff out, fully sealed wouldnt make much difference as theres no issues with it being open.
