  1. Think the warrenty is still valid? I mean its still basically an Banzai haha. I think they would ban me from getting another ftx as all i do is complain about ftx transmission issues then put way to much power into them. Got some foam tires on the way for the new goal of 100, fingers x ed the battery has all healthy cells and the backup one fits without to much cutting. Going to remake the front splitter out of plastic as the metal one catches bends and flips the car. Thinking of why the esc is getting warm might be the motor isnt drawing enough power and its getting bottled up in the esc, maybe moving some of those amps to the motor for more speed will balance my thermals that are well with in safe ranges but i have more themal range on the motor right now when im pushing 85c on the esc. Once i get to play with the timings and experiment there i think 100 on 3s might be doable felt like the when it was maxed it didnt have more to give but could have given more if tweaked. Cheers for all the support lets get to the TON
  2. Just got one of these, thanks for the insight on the drivecups will keep that in mind. First run was impressed with how it handels, not impressed by the clogging on a light hill launch on 3s. And motor got pretty hot for a short run. Needs gearing down, cant imagine how the poor motor would do offroad with the high speed gears. 65+ they say. A sensored system seems to me the way to go, i like the wheel hexes fit my axial wraith 2.2 wheels so can go mad with buying tires that dont fit haha 😄 It was also much smaller than i expected, the outlaw and gatekeeper dwarf it, expected it to be about the same size as an outlaw. Seemed to be built like a tank, feels built like a tank. Hope this makes the outlaw get jumped / broken less 😄 Will be back with more thoughts on the XS once its been through some packs and jumped a little.
  3. Good choice, much better than the stock esc.
  4. Postie bought me my first HPI also. Bit smaller than i expected thought it would be about the same size as the outlaw for example.
  5. Im sure you will ask what you was even arguing with youself about and why you didnt get it sooner after the grins it brings 😄 Edit: oh you already had a max, i guess you needed something for the xmaxx to carry on its back 😄
  6. you know what im going to say so im going to stop saying it... I think your better putting away some extra money and getting a quality motor / esc combo, i forsee you replacing this very quickly it will not work well on nhim as the power delivery isnt there, the motor kv is to high and the esc has far to little amps for a high kv motor. By cheap buy twice, if you dont have the budget for good brushless combo you dont have the budget for buying twice. Save up and get a decent setup from the start that will last you years.
  7. Hey Jack just a thought would it be an upgrade for the outlaw, bigger can more torque 4s outlaw mmm your ms might love it 😄
  8. I think 2 speed has its place in trail trucks like these, they give you tons more distance to a battery to trek with, crawlers they are not unless modified past being the point of having this platform, that i feel is for the classic drive feeling they give. Not everyones boat and upon consideration probably a poor investment for a gift choice ah well some one else will enjoy it more. They must sell for a reason or the return rate would be horrible, maybe it is?
  9. lot of light for a little bar, is that at 6v or 11v?
  10. I did the exact same with a drill motor in the outlaw, they didnt melt but did end up getting slow, they have loads more torque as have higher turns than the ftx one. The will do like you say if it works, it works :D
  11. Today i got to drive it, maxed out the banzai for the first time on 3s.
  12. Th sky rc are good and tough, launched mine a few times off the car at 60mph and still working ok, only downside is the battery doesnt last very long and can take a while to pick up enough sats to be really accurate, but as said it will do.
  13. Gave the drive shaft mod a propper test, using the same setup as the 61mph run, just with smaller sorex tires, so geared down a little if anything. First up some tastey data, esc got a bit warm this time but nothing close to failure. Managed to max it this time. 3s power! 80mph, beat my personal best by 19mph, smashed the 70mph goal, so the next goal is 100. On 4s i think i 100mph is doable. Very happy with this result, if it doesnt go faster im not fussed, hit my goal then some.
  14. Hello @Iain .RLet me know if you still need any, i have 2 free remotes and rx boxes sitting unused. DM me if your intrested.
  15. Gday Iain, id love to help here as have tons of spares however heres the dilemma. I think the issue is all the stock of spares is in peoples spares box for when their car breaks, eg my box has basically every spare outlaw/vantage/carnage part as they are shared. I would only be selling spares to you at a loss to be buying them again later, maybe the case for odds and sods but the prices and availability of these spares is pretty good, just saying. I usually get a couple of outlaw spares with every order as they come into stock and is needed, will be cheaper than buying 2nd hand and paying shipping if your getting parts and paying postage already. Just my 2c.
  16. Bump, Please buy these things for your spares, so i can get more spares, thank you 🙂
  17. This is my dream car, ive given up on an axial yeti and think this vs the losi is a no brainer, with losi weirdness and traxxas standards, what do you think? One day, ill have one till then ill enjoy watching others play with theirs, how she perform with all the upgrades, i guess she doesnt get bashed much?
  18. Motor looks to be identical to the hobbwing axe r2 540L with the same sensor plug Peak amp looks to be a bit lower depending on what cans are on offer the HW550 is 80A cont whilst this is 60A. Its basically a rebranded axe r2 system for 5$ cheaper?
  19. aww I was hoping this was the actual custom lunchbox, more of that please, trailing it would be hilarious. Goes a treat, got loads of power for the wheelies hey!
  20. Cheers G! Dont discount it just yet, looks to be easier to make fast than the ftx or tamiya.
  21. Could be the car was set for lipo so running it on nhim made it low voltage cut off. As usally the steering will still work. Can you check its not set to lipo mode? The lack of the beep boop signals to me indicated loss of motor circuit there for assumed the brushes are melting. Of course use what works for you and your budget, not trying to bully you into brushless, it sure wasnt high on my list when i first bought my first rc cars. Now i just avoid brushed motors to avoid issues, but hey aslong as its giving you fun, no need to change a thing.
  22. The motor fins wouldnt be broken, the armatures have probably melted off. But you said it was just limping home? So the motor was working did you try another battery? Also thats a load of garbage, off road is far harder on the car than gravel, they talked a load of nonsense. If you drove this on the long grass / hills the motor would have lasted a hour tops not 20 hours. The outlaw will eat your brushed motor, dont matter if its a 10-15£ ftx motor or a 70£ hand wound holmes hobbies, it will melt. Don't waste your time on them, and if you do, expect to be carrying your truck lots. It's worth the upgrade / investment to brushless. Its also cheaper to get a brushed outlaw and then a hobbywing max 10 combo for it, those are not 150£. Overall its cheaper than the brushless outlaw and the hardware much better than the etronix brushless setup. Depends whats more valuable to you, a truck that works long term or one that dies after mearly 20h runtime.
  23. Not without hitting the top center brace, that limits the height. it overhangs the battery tray slightly would have to chop some out and dont really want to keep cutting away parts of the car 😛
