Fed up with holiday villa's trying to supplement per person - not like there going to build another bedroom! Budget holiday with supplements is within a whisker of a much more premium property so stuff it, we're going posh (er) this year. Cabin and everything on the ferry - no listening to 30 random strangers farting through the night in the lounge.

Con I think. We purposely make contact fist rather than book through the agents - as often homes are advertised in so many places no one site is up to date. He responded to the enquiry, prebooked it and sent an invoice. I shall be raising a complaint with the agent tomorrow, with a view to getting him struck off and hopefully a refund of the ferry booking deposit we've just paid.

Have something for sale cheap, no interest. Stick it on gumtree/ schpock, raise the price to placate the inevitable give you £X brigade and three buyers all want it, and willing to pay more than the other. Go figure.

Good to see more of my work being used. Shame they didn't volunteer even a bit of payment:

To expand on OHO's point (I read this just today), when uploading to an image hosting site (photobucket, imgur, Flickr, what have you), is that once that photo ids on their servers, it stops being your intellectual property and starts being theirs! Hence why it was perfectly legal (but immoral, as hell!) when Photobucket held everyone's photos "hostage". It stinks, but there you are.
Also, yes. Great shots!

Flickr lets you keep the rights to your stuff, or give up those rights as you decide.
http://blog.flickr.net/en/2011/05/13/at-flickr-your-photos-are-always-yours/
Might have changed when it was sold, but I've not heard anything to suggest it has.
I'd change the rights to creative commons or such like on mine but I'd like to retain the right to challenge usage if I find it unacceptable. I can just chose not do anything about all the people who ignore what I've set...

10 degrees out, time to get brave the cold and get teh mancave ready for (hopefully) a more productive RC year.

Half done, can get to the workbench. 1st job, solder up 'new' esc bought 2nd hand. Found someone already has been at it - connectors removed, dirty solder and rx wire extended. Low and behold it doesn't calibrate and the status leds are doing 80's disco. Buyer claims ignorance then remembers he had the rx wires extended. Offered an immediate refund... will give it till tomorrow to show before PP claim. Wasted daylight and my last set of 5.5mm bullets. I detest reusing them.

Seeing a similar Capri to my last one, in worse condition with a few more miles, going for nigh on 10k on ebay with loads of bidders and still time to run.

I've had quite a few, all went for a song compared to today's prices but we're right at the time. The last one was the best, bought to keep. Finances being what they we're as a younger man we had to run it a few months to tide us over to a new (to us) car. With 16k on the clock it wasn't an issue and she'd been driven monthly for a few miles since new anyway (25 odd years previously). Mrs mis-read a road closed sign, drove through a junction and was t boned by a twokker doing 60 odd plus mph in a 30 zone. Pushed mine over the road and through a fence. Impact almost squarely on the A pillar - opposite side only took out the fence panels - chassis was twisted beyond reasonable repair and new panels only added to the cost.

Ha! it must be something about Capri`s that makes people want to hit them in the side, I had a Mercedes try and push me of the road in the 3 litre but it took it alright and straitened out and turned out all good but I must admit I cried when it happened.
I started out with a 1.6 straight out of the showroom with Cadiz seats. Then went to Audi's for a while to come back to Capri`s with a 2.0 litre that was traded for the 3.0 litre.

Stoked that new RC kit arrived today, 3 days early. Less stoked it's been resealed and all diff and drivetrain bags are missing. Possibly the last bnib X2 CRT pro, and it's a bust.

Yh AJ it did. I hope i'm not being set up. There from an ex team driver (allegedly). Sold me his untouched X2 Cr Pro brushless edition. Very rare as a factory kit, paid good money and it arrived exactly as promised - it's still sat here untouched. He put me in touch with a friend of his for a new X2 Cr Pro nitro kit, for a very tempting price. That one arrived minus diffs, alloy parts shafts and shocks. Paypal claim, all sorted - amicably - end thoughts we're the kit was robbed of parts for warranty claims at the distributor. This X2 CRT is from the original seller (of the BL X2 ) - he's offered it me a year ago, I couldn't justify both. Fast forward to last week, I felt flush culling some RC's, needed a pick me up and he dropped the price of the X2 CRT Pro sufficiently for me not to feel like i'd had my pants completely pulled down.... it arrived today. Only difference is this one has the shocks.

Couldn't resist any longer. Manage to prise her from another collector for slightly less than asked for and she's on route. Unicorn RC.

Brisk 7 miler round Chatsworth estate, chose to cart the DSLR rather than an RC. Only slightly jealous seeing some guy and his son carting a crawler back to their car just outside Beeley.

Normal service is resumed. Taxman satiated with a list price losi 5T - now to get the motivation to get back racing indoor or use it as the ideal time to try 8th e buggy.
-
Hi all, apologies I've not been around this week - got some family stuff kicking off. Will hopefully be all sorted in a couple more days and I can catch up with forum bits. TC all.

Apologies c.b......only just seen this post!
In response to rc butcher.....no they won't be bought out ....they spent the last 8 months trying to find a buyer/investor to no avail.....
They will now cease trading in march.
The founder did add that he would like to rebirth lrp electronics in another form.......they may well rise like a phoenix yet! But don't hold your breath....

Bonus, £70 reduction in car insurance renewal and £110 in quidco account I'd forgotten about (was declined but reinstated). £180 free money in my mind...
-
What to splurge on though. Guess I already spent it on the mini8t last week or John's Outlaw the week before. If I hadn't bought those Jan Sale Spekky Rx's i'd have traded the DX4s in for something a little more capable, but then again i've yet to find a suitable replacement that the Rx costs aren't stupid. Hmm.

HP have issued a recall for certain laptop batteries. Mainly newish models with non user accessible batteries.
Check out if your affected here:

Link is down at them moment - I guess a lot of people accessing it, but worked for me ten mins ago

Any members around Dorset? Have a buyer for a rare RC and I really don't want to ship it blind.

Yeah, you're only way there... would be to sell it as spares/repairs or parts or not working
In the past I have sold items under the 'used' category, then put a disclaimer in bold letters in the description stating that;
'due to you not using the item yourself, your unsure that the item is 100% functional, however you have visually inspected and everything looks OK, rolls along well etc etc'
That way there's no comeback on you.
But ultimately, you will attract less bidders

I usually wait till about now too. But now live in a village cant just pop to the shops lol. So started ages ago end of October ish. Still not completely satisfied yet tho. But today its all about the foods and drink.
Unless tesco has another sale on. They had yankee candles big ones on 3 for £20. Usually £10 each. That sorts my family out anr we keep the free one lol.

New camera awesome. Uploading much bigger files to off site cloud storage less so. The joys of an asymmetric 15/50 internet connection.
-
Are you uploading the originals?
If so, run them through Lightroom or even Photoshop, the quality is still the same to the untrained eye, unless you're doing it professionally it doesn't matter anyway.
Files sizes are generally 8-12% of the originals from my experience, great way to save hard drive space too

That moment you check the bank statements and discover the eldest has been running up £100 mobile bills almost every month since June.

Part of growing up - learning to live within means / boundaries. Needless to say the contract will now live out with no use and a payg sim will be procured, which she'll have to fund herself.
A chunk has been paid back, and she's having her sat job docked at a manageable rate to pay back the rest. Sadly not enough to get me a bl baja though!

Imagine a ferrari, on the autobahn, drivng through roaworks at 30mph. That's my sata3 SSD now via the CD port. I am back online though.

Jinxed the laptop. Hinge failed after 5 hard yrs so i've been after a new one. Just booted up, screen corrupted and it seems the SSD has suffered a catastrophic failure.

@RCbutcherDoesn't cost much to see if you can get data from any hard drive, just need a USB loom, or just stick it in a PC as a second hard drive and see what happens.

Oops. Just bought a 1717. Time to investigate how to fit it into the Mte and find a new home for the 3 run old leopard 4082 1600kv.

Someone lend me £900 to get myself a slightly early birthday present...

Off out. Not sure what'll be more tortuous - food at Jamie's Italian or James Blunt after.
