Went to a local Facebook RC club/group meet today. What a poop show.
Maybe 25+ people there and although friendly enough people there it was really dangerous.
Was held on a small industrial estate type area. I was there for maybe 15 minutes before I saw some poor guy (maybe in his late 40's early 50's) get wiped out by a huge 10kg+ monster truck. Literally took his legs out and smashed him to the ground.
Driver was apologetic obviously but there was no safety or basic rules arranged by any of the so called club leaders.
I've spoken to the guy who got hit and he's actually in a lot of pain now, ...hurt his back & ribs as well as a few cuts/bruises.
I stayed for only a short while after that accident then left. Didn't even bother taking my RC truck out of the car in the end so slowly discharging my batteries now back to storage charge. Waste of a day.-
It doesn;t need rigid rules, brifings and all that...it just needs common sense.
You have an area to drive/spectate, and the area you run in..... and you don;t just wander in to the cars area......when the drivers see an upside down car...they should pause to let the guy recover it. Ramps have a direction....and you stick to it... and drivers of big stuff need to respect drivers of little stuff.....or just don;t run them together.
It needs a bit of consideration for others, and a load of common sense.
Sadly, at that get together, both were sorely lacking. Theats when people do get hurt.

Dewalt have announced new battery packs that they're calling "pouch stacks". Sounds like they're switching to lithium polymer packs and moving away from lithium ion cylinders. Should mean far more power coming to power tools everywhere (let's face it, all tool manufacturers will have to follow suit), plus a few more fires from bad handling by rough tradesmen.

Im fully expecting to be schooled here, this is a genuine question however. Rising energy prices. I get the initial reasons, and its dominating the news. But didnt Putin/Russia say the other day they can supply it and prices then dropped 40%? Whats the issue still? Is it a reluctance to deal with Russia?

If i put all, or most of my RC cars up for sale, its not me giving up but feel a bit of a reboot coming on, thinking it may be a good idea to have just one real nice crawler like the TRX4 Ranger i keep telling myself i will be getting

I have thought several times about thinning out the collection, as they don;t get a lot of use...but....
well...I couldn't sell my Savage.... it's been a loyal servant and is almost part of the family.
I couldn't sell Truckzilla.... its the final form of many years of evolution, and I would never find another twin motor XL chassis....
I don;t want to sell my short Baja....shortened to FG length and widened to fit an FG Jeep shell...
Can't sell the 6 wheel Hyper.... or the Savage XS.....or the Stampede with the home made chassis and van shell.....and I certainly won;t sell my brushless conversion Madforce Kruiser.
...so....its kind of hard to sell any of your cars when they have been modified and tinkered with so much that virtually all of them are modified, have hours of effort put in, and all carefully honed to make them just the way I like them. You can't buy cars like this...you have to make them yourself 🙂

just found out my car failed its mot with the following:
Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects):
- Nearside Front Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm inner edge (5.2.3 (e))
- Offside Front Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm inner edge (5.2.3 (e))
- Nearside Front Tyre has a tear, caused by separation or partial failure of its structure inner sidewall (5.2.3 (d) (ii))
Repair immediately (major defects):
- Windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid (3.5 (a))
- Offside Headlamp aim too high and too far to the right. (4.1.2 (a))
- Nearside Front Position lamp not working (4.2.1 (a) (ii))
- Offside Front Position lamp not working (4.2.1 (a) (ii))
- Exhaust Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (8.2.1.2 (c))
- Front Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases (6.1.2 (a))
- Power steering component leaking (2.1.5 (a))
- Offside Front Outer Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot split or insecure, no longer prevents the ingress of dirt (6.1.7 (g) (ii))
- Nearside Front Anti-roll bar ball joint dust cover no longer prevents the ingress of dirt (5.3.4 (b) (ii))
- Offside Front Anti-roll bar ball joint dust cover no longer prevents the ingress of dirt (5.3.4 (b) (ii))
- Offside Front Anti-roll bar ball joint excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))
- Offside Rear Wheel bearing rough when rotated (5.1.3 (b) (i))

that is alot, normally only have 2 things wrong 😞

hitting those is probably whats done hte balljoints...and the spring. It will be insecure or not fitting because it probably got a permanent 'set' in it from banging over speed bumps.
Probably be able to get a pair of good used ones for the fornt. If one is gone...the other is probably not a lot better

3 illegal tyres..... er...good job it was the MOT station telling, you not a traffic cop.
That would be 3 points and a £60 fine PER OFFENCE.....and you got 3. 9 points and £180. You would also be facing a walk home, as they would not let you get back in and drive.
But seriously...that last tyre issue, with a failing sidewall is VERY dangerous. Thats just waiting for a blowout to happen.
A blowing exhaust is always going to screw up the running and probably is the reason the O2 sensor reading was off. If you had no screenwash in the container...thats another 3 point offence....but it may just be a clogged pipe or the washer pump is goosed. Split rubbers on the balljoints and failed balljoints go together. Would be worried about a front spring not fitting properly....Do you have a lot of speed humps where you live?

Looking at trail bikes at the moment, gotta love the "no MOT, but would pass one easily" ads...!!!
