    Modified Muscle

The Titan 12T 550 modified motor pumps out incredible mod-motor power with virtually maintenance-free operation, and long-lasting performance. The Titan's integrated cooling fan pulls cool air through vent tunnels molded into the motor plate to keep temperatures down. A cooler running motor equates to faster speeds, longer runtime, and extended motor life. The XL-5 Electronic Speed Control offers high current handling, EZ-Set® one-button setup, and smooth high-frequency control. Once reserved for high-end replacement ESCs, the XL-5 comes standard with three drive profiles, low voltage detection, thermal shutdown protection, gold-plated connectors, and incredibly low resistance. The patented Traxxas High-Current Connector opens the door for unrestricted current flow with today's high-power batteries.

ML4A-4amp-DC-Charger-Render_a.jpg4-amp DC Peak Detecting Fast Charger
For quick, convenient, hassle-free charging, a 4-amp DC fast charger is included to maximize runtime and minimize down time. The included NiMH charger uses a 12-Volt DC power outlet for universal high-output charging. The brilliant LED provides charging status as soon as the battery is connected. The charger is optimized for charging your Traxxas iD Power Cell NiMH battery. Peak-detection circuitry makes sure the battery receives a full charge every time. The status LED flashes green to indicate when charging is in progress, then turns solid green when charging is complete for foolproof charging, peak performance, and maximum runtime.

2923X-3000mah-7C-flat_d.jpgTraxxas Power Cell NiMH Battery with iD
Slash 4X4 includes a Traxxas iDTM Power CellTM Battery Pack optimized for free-flowing power and maximum punch with premium quality, low-resistance cells; flexible, silicone-jacketed 12-gauge wire; heavy-duty welded tabs; and Traxxas High-Current Connectors. Traxxas iD chargers (sold separately) auto-detect iD-equipped Power Cell batteries and automatically set and optimize charge settings. Precision assembly with attractive, individually wrapped cells and clear overwrap complete the package.

Great set up and it’ll run a 2s as well when the esc is set to LVD, good step up before modding to the vxl or similar system.

'affordable' version...or as it used to be known...the brushed version. Using the XL5 and 12T Titan combo ...er... how old is that?

The 2WD version is already out and goes for £245 from Modelsport, and the 4x4 version is going to be a £324  'affordable' RC.

Now I am not a 'hater' of the brand per-se, but I can see why some members on here rave about the competition. When Arrma can sell a similar quality 4x4 1/10 brushed SC truck for £100 less, if they could actually get stock over here they would clean up. Traxxas are, without doubt, the laziest manufacturer when it comes to updates and development. Prices go up, well above inflation, yet they do not address any issues with their designs.

I still can't believe you can go buy a brushless Stampede for over £300 .... in 2WD form! It's £100 more than the brushed one, and good combos can be bought for less than the price differential retail....All that in a chassis that has been around since 1994..and in XL5 format since 2006.....unchanged!

The Slash is a 'new' design as the 4x4 only came out in 2009 ...... so well done there. You have dropped a lower powered ancient brushed combo into a 9 year old chassis with a new paintjob.

Next .....Volkswagen release a new Rolls Royce, with an aircooled beetle engine. Pre order your budget Roller for a reasonable £1,135,000 today.

( please note...this may be sarcasm. If sarcasm offends....please ignore the last comment )

Don't hate on traxxas, the fan boys will get upset.

Well...actually...they did...but sold it to BMW after some commercial blackmail in 2003. Basically..BMW made the engines and VW made the cars. BMW had tried to buy Rolls but had been outbid. VW ended up having to sell to BMW after they threatened to stop supplying engines when the contract expired. That would leave VW nowhere...so they sold. It would not have been commercially viable to re-tool for new engines.

You know a company knows it's selling overpriced items, when they release a line of "affordable" models... For all you peasants

Bloody hell, when does it end with this company.

Whilst I am over the moon with all my Traxxas Rc, I can only agree with this...

If I’m honest, the new paint jobs look quite funky compared to the pre Jurassic versions.

As for overpriced, well MOST are, but when you line up the Trx4 sport against a Axial scx10.2 rtr, price is similar but the trx4 would walk all over the scx10.2 “out the box”. (I know, I have both) albeit the trx4 Defender and a kit version scx10.2

Wonder if there was as much “ooh aah” about vw when their cars flounced the eu emission rules?

nope, just as many vw’s on the road.

i guess to some folk the product comes above anything else (manufacturers ethics etc.)

end of the day though, your money, your choice.....

I agree you can get better for less, Traxxas are aiming at the newbie to the hobby, while we may wince and shudder at the prices at what people are willing to pay these trucks do deliver bags of fun right out of the expensive [emoji403] in one nice neat easy to understand expensive package.

Truck batteries charger Bluetooth, technology with the hassle removed all you have to do is plug it in and pull the trigger, when you think about it it’s brilliant.

Hobby shops have ripped off people for years selling them stuff they don’t need, by the time you’ve spent on the hobby shop truck + batteries + charger + upgrades connectors that they persuaded you to buy you’re almost up to a complete traxxas package, except dad and little Johnny haven’t got a clue about volts NiMh or lipos 2s3s or how to charge them correctly 1 2 3 amps, traxxas take away that headache for dads.

I’m not defending traxxas but they have got it right commercially, the markets moving on, at our truck club there’s a guy who has...

“Built not bought” ....on the back of his truck, I’ll help anyone new members old members, he’s old school and won’t share his knowledge and everything else is crap apart from his stuff, he’s in the corner having a brew on his own [emoji848] wonder why.

My son loves Traxxas it’s easy for him to work on and repair it keeps him interested it just dose what it says on the tin, is it money well spent ? If you can get something to work repeatedly then yes, if it ends up on a shelf because it’s blown your mind then no, but we all now it’s a bit more involved than that.

I have to say as bad as traxxas ethics are. You can't knock their builds and even if you bought one for your kids and they get bored at least with a traxxas you got a reasonable chance of getting near what you paid for it back.

Imagine little “jonny’s” face Christmas morning when out pops a ftx carnage or whatnot, takes it out for the first run and after 5 minutes it breaks.

at this point, “jonny’s” mum is furious at dad for buying him crap. Then it’s sat in the shed a couple of years before digging it out to sell on or go to the tip.

now if he had been bought a Traxxas of sorts, yes they aren’t indestructible but I guarantee a damned sight better built than the ftx and the fun wouldn’t stop till after the holiday period.

    my theory anyway.....

Yes, but "little Johnny" could have been bought an Arrma for far less than the "affordable" Slash and end up with a much better and tougher RC.

Comparing to a Carnage is a bit of a stretch... they can be had for almost £200 less than this Slash.

Why are we still trying to suggest Arrma is a sensible purchase in the UK? You might as well set fire to the money, absolutely ridiculous advising someone in the UK to buy an Arrma. If everything goes to plan with them and Horizon, brilliant, ill be the first to buy one, but even considering one at the moment is suicidal imo

Which, with the XL5 'new' version, is what most people will do to it. Expect lots of Titan 12T / XL5 combos on E-Bay

Unfortunately youre right. They have such a high profit margin on the electrics because theyve been around forever that even Platinum editions come with the VXL :(

With little or no parts support (as of yet) poor little Jonny would have to avoid the skate ramps, just in case he breaks something and get put in the shed to slowly deteriorate.

as for the comparison thing, lots have been made between ftx outlaw and Axial Yeti, when there is a gaping chasm in quality difference.

    but hey,

one mans any junk is another mans treasure and all that...:good:

While that is true, the parts support issue is Traxxas' fault!
