    HoBao Scale Truck Teaser

    HOBAO TEASES NEW OFF-ROAD TRUCK

HoBao was a big name during the nitro revolution that occurred in our hobby about a decade ago. In recent years, HoBao is perhaps best known for their DC-1 scale rock crawler. However, Hobao is now teasing a new Off-Road Truck that definitely has some scale look to it. The latest teaser from HoBao shows off what looks to be a monster truck with scale accents, but we’ll have to wait a few days to find out exactly what lies behind the teaser image

I’m a big hobao fan, if you didn't know, but this is a miss from me.

Me too but this is fail, such an excellent oportunity to finaly bring adult product on the market and what we’ve got? Why would anyone pay for this if we can get proven Cen Reaper American Force edition 70€ cheaper? Such a shame 🙄

Theres only a few inches in this, its actually bigger than expected, but not too sure about the electrics, seem a bit pony to me.

Electrics are pretty much what the savvy XL and that super 5SC ran - 6s 150a with a 2000kv truggy sized motor.  Ie also similar to the gen 1 xmaxx which liked to catch fire.  A lot.  Is it enough?  With a gearbox i'd say probably.... with a centre diff ......

For what it's worth the combo is good in the 1/8 version, though lacks a little torque for my liking so I switched to a 82mm motor.

I was a huge lover of the smaller MTe this has addressed some issues that had but not easily that centre diff is way too complicated 🤣🤣. I’ll be honest though it is growing on me and now seeing it’s size and how it runs I do like it it more.

Personally id get the roller and by pass those stock electrics and what’s with those 20mm hex hubs ! 🥴

Is it time to part waves with the X Maxx ? Certainly not for this but I would still like to try one out

You’d need a whole new motor mounting plate to do so, 1/5 scale motors have bigger mounting points that said that new 1650 kv hobbywing and a max 6 would be absolutely perfect in this and no need for a new mounting plate 👍👍. It would be a beast running that Hmmmmmmm ?

yeah, i guess you would need new battery trays to run 8s as well. I think you could make it fit though, it would just be a lot of effort.

Be honest I doubt it would need 8s. Got to stop looking at this as I could end up getting one just to see if it’s as fun as my old mte was 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've run twin 4S hardcase packs in the MTe - for run times in parallel.... Max 6 to cope with the added weight and a 1400-1600Kv 4082 or longer on 8s should be good with long run times.

I love my MTe, i've had 3 now and baby the current one too much.  I don't like this at all tbh but i'll take as a positive that it will extend the lifespan of the 1/8 version.

Yep should have you’d probably need to modify the motor mount a little in order for it to fit but nothing to hard I wouldn’t have thought.

Oh well just got this back from cml so looking like the kits a no go still the rtr is not a bad price and you can always sell on the electrics

    Hello Richard,
No trouble at all, although I'm afraid you probably won't like the answer.
Unfortunately the cost of the ARTR version is almost the same as the RTR for some reason so for the moment we haven't ordered any from HoBao as it's difficult to justify selling it at the pretty much the same price as the RTR.
We're discussing it with HoBao and seeing what can be done but we're unlikely to see them in the short term.

I'd like to see this sat next to the original Hyper MT, just to get a good taste of size.

Not used my MTe for ages... bless it.
