  1. Hello you lot! I thought I would share with you my Savage 21! I got this for christmas 2002 just after it was released. I had no idea what I was getting because my Mum and Dad just said they would get me an RC car with an engine. I was very young, around 11 years old. I had never had a Nitro car before, I had no idea what they were. YouTube wasn't around then because that started in Febuary 2005 so I couldn't watch video's on Nitro cars either. Also, we didn't have the internet. I used it every single day after school and all day weekends, up and down the roads, in the local woods, parks... I even have one of those HPI cases on wheels because I took in on our anual Holiday. Everything, including the 21BB (3.4cc) engine lasted many years, I changed the engine for a K4.6 in 2012 because my local Hobby shop had one and I felt like buying it. The 21 engine is on a shelf and still works fine. The shell is original and cracked, smashed and dented, but that's how I like it. Most of the screws and bolts on the truck are either missing or replaced with the wrong ones. I installed a 3 speed gearbox and metal twin brake discs in around I'd say 2007ish because the original brake disc melted, and I felt like trying the 3 speed box. Because mainly my family never had computers or internet I never upgraded many parts on it, if I wanted something I had to ask my Mum to take me to the local model shop and I had a look around, anyway back then you couldn't really order anything from the internet like you can these days. Recently in 2019 I came across some metal axles and a few other bits in ebay so I bought them for cheap and added them. This is by far the best and most loved thing I own, it was the main part of my childhood and shaped me for who I am today.

  4. RC4WD TF2 kit, get it with the body, because it works out quite a good saving if you just sell the body brand spanking new over just buying the kit without the body, then buy the body of your choice, perhaps a Blazer? Or do the unusual Hilux build with a 4dr version? Or maybe an FJ40? XJ? Unimog? I would personally go 1.55 for a scale truck though, unless you are building something lifted? HobbyWing 1080, Holmes Torquemaster Expert 35t, Savox 1256, or 1210, if you want waterproof. You'll have a good chunk of change left over for other stuff you want to add like interior etc...

  6. Hello you lot! I thought I would share with you my much loved HPI Rush Evo. I bought this with my Birthday and Christmas money I'd saved up in 2003(Ish) I went into the local model shop at the time with my cash in my pocket after waiting for a time when my Mum was free to take me. I was after all about 12 years old and couldn't yet drive. I'll always remember going in and looking around, and the man who owned the shop came up to me and asked what I was looking for. He said well HPI have released a new one and I've just got some stock. He showed me the Rush Evo. I'd seen it before in my HPI DVD. We didn't have the internet and YouTube wasn't around then because that started in 2005. So I knew about this truck but not much, anyway the price was £199.99 and I had exactly £200 so, I bought it! I really liked it, and I went straight home to run it in. I spent all day that day zipping up and down the road, it was nice to have a change to a smoother sounding engine and something two wheel drive too. Over the years it has been subject to some abuse, I'll tell you! I used to fling this thing off the half pipe at the skate park and it would go straight up and land on its wheels and just drive off... Really strong little cars they are. Now because we didn't have the internet and I don't think there was much in the way of online shopping anyway back then, I didn't get any parts to upgrade anything so it has stayed very much standard. The back wheels were great I loved the X design but they soon went bald and then one flew off one day and hit an old man who was sitting on a bench. So, I went home and nicked the tyres off an old toy RC thing I had and that's what you can see on it today. I am still after a pair of new original tyres for it but I can't find any. Now, in, I would say 2007ish this little truck died. The big end bearing failed and jammed the engine up. I took it apart and lost most of the bits and it sat under my bed for years. When I moved into my own home in 2010 it went in a box in my Garage, until recently! I have been looking for an original T15 engine for it, but those are hard to find IN MY BUDGET so I went got the T3.0 but those all seem to be out of stock. I had some Subscribers of my YouTube channel send me their old engines early this year (2019) but those were also dead. So, what you see today is an old loved Rush Evo with a half dead replacment engine in it that's waiting to be brought back to life!

  7. Yeee learned the hard way Still using the KM X2 chassis at the moment though along with front and rear bumper assemblies and the bodyshell. Not quite sure which section this should go in now 😁 Maybe if it can be moved back to the large scale section and I will amend the title again.

  8. Well this has taken a bizarre twist. Introducing Fraken-5ive! Part KM-X2, part Losi 5ive B and soon to be part Losi 5ive T 😛 Everything that can be swapped over has, even down to the steering set-up. To be honest the more I worked on the KM X2 the less happy I was getting with it, the quality just wasn't what I was used to with genuine Losi and it was starting to rub me up the wrong way. I had originally wanted a 5ive T to convert to brushless and seeing as I already had the 5ive B which is 80% or more there already I thought just do it Couple of issues, the rear and front shock towers will need changing to 5ive T ones as the 5ive B rear one has no provision for the rear body posts and the front one causes the front bumper to sit at a bit of an odd angle and I will need a rear brace as the 5ive B one is far to short. I put some axle extenders on it so it isn't too far off stock 5ive T width but at some point I will change the arms etc over to 5ive T ones. The drive shaft came off of the KM X2 to run to the rear. Gave it a very quick blast and it is all working okay.

  9. I haven't had much time over the last several days but I have decided on a body. More on that at the end. The body I'm going with is quite a bit narrower than the kit sliders which presented me with a choice to make. Either cut up the kit sliders to fit or make my own. I decided to get the saw out. And here's my choice. It probably comes as no surprise but it's a Power Wagon. This truck is going to be a good performing trail truck. I've always like the look of this Power Wagon so I'm going to do my own take on this. Different color, slightly different cage but I'm hoping for a very similar stance. We'll see.

  11. Well some more progress Rad fully finished, 'hoses' routed, not the most creative routing, but quite realistic and made the most sense for keeping bed space free. Little overview, very happy with it for my first attempt. Yellow lenses definitely needed! Always helps to outline what you're cutting out from the outside and use a lightbox, my paint jobs would be even worse without those. This tool from SSD is so neat! New beadlock rings and scale hubs on. Some colour on the body, I am so glad I did indeed decide with the red/blue theme, it would have been too much blue. Overview shots, definitely making progress, let me know what you think so far?
