I got back to my mates and stole a pair of rear wheels off him and got them fitted so i could do some more running, we took them down to scarborough beach and i managed a full tank of fuel Still running a stock 26er but Sonic is sorting me out a nice heart for the bashfest, not sure what yet but i sure am excited! Innovative-Rob kindly gave me a red chassis at he event, i guess for helping out setting up (or maybe he caved into 2 years of me asking? ) and i also collected my new engine from Rich, Sonic sent it across to him, a home ported jobbie - very exciting! It took me a whole day and then some to swap the chassis' and engine over, mainly because i keep getting distracted and at an event like Bashfest there is so much going on to distract you Also got a nice hydrodipped fancover from Marek to fit. I haven't seen any photos of my baja running yet, probably because i chose to run when no one was around so i didn't embarrass myself I managed to sneak in 2ish tanks, the new engine is nice, can't wait to get it dialed in and running sweet. My weekend ended when i broke my baja and couldn't be bothered fixing it, 2 things went wrong... #1 my TR pull start spring snapped #2 i lost a screw and my shock kinda fell off. Yup, rubbish update i know, but i'm sorry .. My old man has bought another baja, so this gives me motivation to get mine sorted and back to tip top condition, can't have him having a faster and more reliable rig now can I? The Trooper Posted May 24, 2014 Author Share Posted May 24, 2014 I've decided to brand my baja 'FrankenBaja' or 'BajaStein' considering the mishmash of colours and parts that are on it, it's almost like a project build Green, red, blue, pink, black white, orange, a whole mashup, and i love it, makes it very personal and MINE. Anyway, some slight alterations today, i've put a spare wheel on the back with a super duper uber limited edition non lipped green outer beadlock, so few exist i only managed to pinch 1.... I've also changed the front beadlocks from blue to white, to match my blue rear beadlocks and white wheels, like i said, a mishmash. This is all you're getting for now, i'm working out some issues at the moment to get it running sweet for the next bashfest and i also want it to handle reasonably well. Anyway, stay tuned peeps. The Trooper Posted June 8, 2014 Author Share Posted June 8, 2014 Righty ho, got it all back together with some new parts, all focused on reducing slop and improving handling, i did also remove the TR pullstart to reduce weight on the flywheel and put a stocker back on. I've rebuild the diff with 60k oil and new seals, don't ask why 60k because i don't know. It's always kind of a lucky dip. The shocks have been re built with a mixture of 35, 45 and 50 so i could use up the little oil in some almost empty bottles, don't know how that will work out by they seem ok for now. I've fitted GC Motorsport front ball ends as my stock ones were sloppy as hell after 4 years use, i've also replaced the lower balls, they are still not perfect but better, i am assuming the actual arms are worn, and that's simply an expense i can't afford atm. I've also replaced the stock ball end things on the steering rods with these jobbies from eBay and some old collars i had from a while ago. I've fitted Swingy P cables all round, mainly for the hell of it, but they gotta do soemthing other than look cool right? He's telling me i've fitted them wrong, but what does he know eh? haha. New hostile MX nightmares (hard) fitted to the rear also, in addition to that i've mixed up my beadlock and wheel colour. And some photos of the buggy in general... Thanks Robert On the line ready to start, i think i only made it past the first corner a handful of times... Heading into the first corner jostling for the lead, mine is first row in and in the middle. I think this is me in the process of spinning out on the straight, either that or it's entering the bottom bend, either way, i probably spun out and causes a whole world of problems for anyone else on the track at the same time.. In the lead, think this is off the line, again, first corner carnage awaits! Fitted my new IRC bushed braces, still got the one that goes infront of the gear box to do, but that can wait til next time i have the box out.. Had to think on my feet when i rounded out a nut holder on the front bulkhead as well..
