Motors and esc's

Hi all.

Watched the forum for a while now and just getting back into the hobby.

I'm a plc and drives engineer as my day job and know my stuff when it comes to industrial motors and drives but was wondering how this compares with rc motors.

With industrial motors the key controller of speed is the frequency of the feed produced by the drive and the pole pair count of the motor.

It seems that with rc motors that the speed is proportional to the voltage, which is different to what I'm used to.

Does the frequency vary and also does pole count make a difference?

KV, Voltage & efficiency are the main factors. Theres 2 Pole and 4 Pole Brushless motors, and obviously 4 Poles have slightly more torque. I'm no expect but Ive not heard of frequency in terms of RC motors
