1/8th unassembled

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Old git here.

I've got myself into spending way too much money on RC cars because I like to make them from kits which takes me back to my childhood.

It started a few months ago when I saw the tamiya hornet that I made with my dad 35 years ago... Then came the hotshot which was the car I (thought) wanted at the time. Somehow found out about Kyosho and built the superb Optima (beat build yet).

Just built the the 22x-4 elite and waiting for the electronics before I smash it into a wall...

I do have a club close by, and am very seriously thinking about joining so I can get something out of what is obviously a serious car.

However, I really want to get into wrecking some 1/8th scale bashers.

I'm obviously rubbish at searching on Google, but I cannot find a decent basher at 1/8th scale that I can buy unassembled. I think I saw the armor kraton kit at some point, but as of right now, I can't find anything I'm interested in.

So, I'd love to know...

1) why traxxas, armour ,et al, do not do basher 1/8th unassembled kits?

2) are there any 1/8th bashers I can buy unassembled?

Please help before I buy too many premium 1/10th cars I have no idea how to use....

Thanks,

Dave.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Have you had a look at the Hyper ST Pro kit ?

It is for a nitro engine which isnt in the kit but quite a few folks have converted them to electric and theres a few threads on here how they did it

alot of people buy rtr bashers then strip them half down anyway brother always best to check the diff oils and shock oils etc before they do any damage most factory built cars are done on production lines so a lot get through unchecked properly.

always recommend people to strip down a new rc see where everything goes how it all works as its the best way of learning ive found 👍

and welcome to MSUK dave 😎

Thanks guys.

A very warm welcome 👍😎

I'll definitely check out converting a nitro to electric. From the pictures, the Hyper looks pretty good quality at that price... thanks for the suggestion... It's very likely to be the next car on my list; thanks.

Deconstructing an RTR is interesting. I've literally just done that with an old Thunder tiger (phoenix Bx ii) which I bought a bearing set for. It makes you pay attention... If I end up with añ RTR I'll definitely strip it... Any suggestions on makes i.e any benefits of traxxas Vs armour Vs whatever when it come to deconstruction and adaptability?

I'm still intrigued why 1/8th bashers don't come as Kits... The demand is obviously not there.

Thanks again guys.
