Tamiya Mini Thread

Seeing as there's a quite a few of them now on the forum, time for its own thread?

My past and present Mini's:

I first had a Tamiya M02L RWD VW Beetle, awesome car. foams on astrotuf was great fun. No pics though . Then I had my best ever RC car, a HPI RS4 Mini. Probably the Holy Grail of HPI chassis. Mine had a Tozai Mitsubishi Evo 4 and a Kawada Lotus Elan body, and with cut down worn Schumacher Minipins on astroturf, nothing could touch it. Even with a black can motor, it killed off the Mini class as my local club!

Then a break from Minis, and the first pair, probably back in 2003 or so. £50 for both, RTR. Utter bargain!

The one with the body eventually turned into my main race beast. Chassis one got this Tozai Mistubishi Evo 4 body and sold on:

During this time I picked up a M02M, rear wheel drive Mazda MX5 than ended up FWD and again, sold on.

Then, I sold the Cooper and MX5. Well, the M03 got swapped, for an Xpress Mini. Again, awesome car, all carbon and red alloy. I sold it locally, then bought it back again, then sold again!

In 2005 I got these:

The one with the body was the actual review car from Radio Race Car magazine, and it handled totally fantastic. Didn't matter what springs, oils etc, it just worked. 12x3 and some old GP3300s

Ran a Pair of Tozai bodies on this too, a Supra and R33 Skyline:

Sold to Rob from RaceChat.

And a Kyosho RWD Mini (remember ? )

Sold last year.

And..... onto 2006 stuff.

My local club started Mini's again (remember, I killed it off with the HPI 4WD one ;D), and I managed to buy back my beast again, this time with a cheapo 99p paintjob:

Quickest at the club for 6 months, and it was the cheapest one there too.

Sold at the end of last year when I got bored...... built up a wide chassis out of spares and sold that too:

well mine started out with this one...

mini m03L(well more of a FF but oh well) with the black chassis which was the pride and joy of the gang with Ta04 Arms,Hubs etc.. front and rear TRFs which got stripped and sold on at the local club....

to be replaced with this...

which then got sold to a forum member on here..

then bought the FTX blaze of a forum member

and in 2007 gt the most cheapest mini in my life

and at the moment building a M01 with some nice rare parts hopefully will get pictures up soon

hi most of these are hpi mini's nitro and electric

the only one i run is the blue one with the revolutions on it

its only front wheel drive and its running a novarossi 12 motor so driving it is interesting to say the least!

all the others belong to a friend of mine who just has a thing for hpi's i just build and keep them running for him inc the beetle which is just a shelf queen and has never had fuel in it cos it just so nice lol

mini's are just great this threads been a long time coming !

Bought my mini many many moons ago, it had been melted by some idiot who put a 10 turn in it or something daft, chassis was replaced and all bushes replaced with bearings.

shell is way past battered and the chequered roof is made out of leccy tape

what was the competition like were there any full on hardcore racers who grunt at you when you ask for a setup or is it just all purely down to fun, as i hate the W*****s that take it to the extreme levels where as if you tap there even look at there car they give you stick for it lol

anyway looked a cracking event might take part hopefully next time its on

There was a couple, but even they helped out the younger guys with setups etc.

having seen all the electric minis on here i wanted one so here it is!

its a hpi rs4 mini with carbon chassis 2 speed box 19turn motor and it fly's

new body and wheels as well !

i know 4wd is cheating but it looks the part lol
